What really hurt most was how when he gets back with Sandy he goes right back to ignoring Lucy because repairing that relationship isn't a priority in the reality where he's dating someone else. Plus everyone knows ignoring Lucy gives you Sandy Loyalty Rewards Points (tm).

Ughhh this hits me too close, I moved across the country for my true love and this, this is not their truth. If she fell off the face of the earth until I INCONVENIENCED her by waking her up at night because I was sobbing despondant? I would have been gone. I would have been miserable, but I'd have been gone. I used to love MikeXLucy but the pure snark of her and Augustus is wonderful. She gets to be herself. He gets to get away from all that flaming garbage. She has a quieter and quieter crush until she's more self-actualized and he's all, sigh, I guess you're LESS high maintinence now XD But this is at least refreshing for them to not be so stupid where the other is concerned

Exactly. At least with Augustus it's more common but with how it's been for a few years IRL, it's been long since other people got to do this for her. It's such a shame that this is the AU timeline and not the main timeline.

That‘s why I love seeing her around Augustus so much - it‘s the only times I feel like she can genuinely smile again, just be herself. And sure, even so she still might force herself to smile sometimes as not to worry him, but I‘d rather take Lucy‘s forced smile than seeing her forcing herself to be cold and distant.

I miss this Lucy. It's nice to see her be her normal tsundere self instead of the forced Cold and Distant person she has been lately. A defense mechanism for sure but it was always hard to see when you remember that she was lively like this.

Would this have turned back into a coping device for both of them? I get those vibes from this page.

I think she could have been fine or at least much better with it if he had actually sat her down and had a conversation about it instead of what he actually did - roll into class the next morning, completely blow her off, and let her find out secondhand by way of him gloating to Paulo and Daisy about how great things are with Sandy now
