Having other ppl as a buffer for them to their breaking points, tbh. The meddling of their friends led to major misunderstandings between them which then led them to taking major actions that hurt them both. The only buffer that'd seem to actually be good for them is a mental health professional, like a counselor.

I changed my mind. I don't mind this alternate route. They both deserve a chance to talk without other people as a buffer, but it's just too risky. They both sink into eachother in ways that scream unhealthy.
