Dr. Who Reaction Series 6 - The Girl who waited

Hhaha yeah that time glass was funny :) Oh wow, you´re right. I didn´t even notice that while watching ( like you said :) ) but we do not have a big cast in this one. Blows my mind to notice now, thanks :) Seeing the name of Raxacoricofallapatorius written in letters is hilarious for some reason :D :D I hope we´ll get to see Clom some day in the future :) Thank you for the video :D It´s so strange to see those actors beeing just themselves. But Matt isn´t really much different from his role tbh. You can see the difference with Amy, she talks different, but he just looks and talks like the doctor :D :D

"Good question. A bit sinister. What's the answer to not get us killed?", Rory Williams, "The Girl Who Waited" Very interesting idea in this story of the multiple time streams. And I love the huge time glass that Rory has to carry around. Although we don't really notice it, there's a very limited cast in this episode. Other than our regular cast we only have a video of the check-in woman, the voice of the interface and the hand-bots. There is no one else in this episode. I like the interplay between Old Amy and the Doctor over the name of Amy's sonic device. Nice callback by Nicole to compare the Torchwood contact lenses with the glasses in this story. Clom is mentioned as being a location of a future Disneyland. We first heard about Clom in that fan-favourite episode "Love & Monsters" (it's the twin world of Raxacoricofallapatorius) and was also one of the stolen planets in the Series 4 finale. The Doctor has a new coat! Here's a clip from the confidential. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pFy06YYzNCo "I don't care that you got old. I care that we didn't grow old together.", Rory Williams, "The Girl Who Waited"

It´s a great story however the midnight episode is still my favorite of them :)

I agree, it´s too devastating to say it´s a favorite episode. And it´ll also be interesting to see Karen when she is the same age in real life. :)

I agree 100%, this was an emotional rollercoaster. In the end it got so hard for me to watch though since they kept on bringing even more sadness into the already existing one :D I do understand though, that episodes like this can work like a catharsis sometimes. I do have an episode like this in Buffy as well. It gets me every time, but it helps releasing emotions and pressure, to cry along with it. I do understand all the perspectives in this episode. That´s what makes it so hard tbh. Because you as a viewer yourself do not really know what would be best in this scenario. At least this is what I felt. And the moment when the other Amy is crying in front of the TARDIS was sooooo heartbreaking. I don´t know if I wouldn´t have let her in. Even knowing what Rory knew. And beeing this torn, makes me feel all those emotions that led to me crying and sobbing in the end.

Thank you on your thoughts about the episode, I do agree with you :) I haven´t really watched Star Trek, I only know the older episodes released in the 80 or 90´s. But I have heard good things about it so far :)

I score it 4/5 and rank it 58th/140. That said I find this episode similar to the Midnight episode. It's a phenomenal story to watch first time but, even second but then not one I'm in a hurry to ever watch again Karen's acting is amazing though and it's a very emotional story.

Thanks :)

Hey! Just a heads up! Before the YouTube haters kill you for a simple mistake! 😂🙌🏻 It’s “the girl who waited” ❤️❤️

I can't exactly describe this as a "favourite" episode because it's devastating to watch. Karen Gillan does a phenomenal job of playing the older version of Amy; it'll be interesting to see how different or similar she looks when she's the same age in real life! My personal rating is 4.5 out of 5.

I said last week that I like this story even more than the previous one but I avoided saying why. But obviously it's the emotional impact which I absolutely love. Including the final few minutes which I like all the more because they are drawn out in a way that makes watching them more painful for the viewer. I must be an emotional masochist. Or maybe because I cry so little in real life it's quite a release when Doctor Who (or a small number of films) makes it happen with fiction. "I don't care that you got old..." always starts me off on that path. Having said all that - yes the paradox is a great plot device even if it has been done before. And the hardest thing is that changing time so that older Amy's experiences "never happened" is meaningless from her perspective. Of course she doesn't want to cease to exist but there is also the fact that she has experienced every second of those 36 years so telling her they can be prevented is like saying that we don't need to worry about what you have been through because it's not real. Love the set design and the robot Rory and I will admit that I find older Amy even more attractive than younger Amy. Karen Gillan was 24 at the time this was broadcast so her older version should have been about 60. But I suppose she kept herself fit fighting off the robots.

This could be accused of being a filler story - but it's extremely well done. I agree with you that it's somewhat overdone toward the end;but I find it far more interesting than most other episodes this season. That being said, the paradox storyline (where a character and/or characters get caught in a paradox - live for a substantial length of time - yet ultimately disappear in the blink of an eye when the time -stream gets corrected) is actually quite common in science fiction. A supreme example being "The Inner Light" in Star Trek:The Next Generation; which imo does a better job overall. Nonetheless, this is a strong entry in Series 6.
