Series 6 Minisodes Special :)

Comments

Notting Hill Carnival nowadays is held over two days. The first day is more for families and children and has more cute costumes and parading. The second day is dominated by young adults, loud music from various DJs and sound systems and a fair amount of drinking and dancing. There is still a parade but the costumes are often more - er - minimal. It's still organised locally and is largely but not exclusively a black British (Afro Caribbean origin) celebration. But I'm sure the kids don't think about the sadder aspects of its origins. Where I used to work in London's Waterloo area there is a very small annual carnival in the summer which begins with a parade of adults and children in themed costumes. The local primary school, an old people's social club, a Zumba dance class etc etc all take part. When I worked at Waterloo Library I would take my story-time tiger to the front door of the library to wave to the children as they went past. I left work there ten years ago but I still sometimes go back to watch the parade. I'm glad you are keeping warm!

I like the minisodes, too :) Oh wow, the story behind your carnival is so sad. I didn´t know that. Do children nowadays still know why you are celebrating, or do they just think it´s all fun? The reason why we celebrate "Fasnacht" our carnival is solely because we want to expel the "ghosts of the winter", with all the noise and music and funny costumes. There isn´t such a tragic reason behind it. Also what´s really funny about carnival in Germany, is that almost every single German state has a different name for it. :D :D I´m glad you liked the Amy costume. By the way I don´t wear a skirt with that outfit. For the video I just wore my joggers, and outside I´m always wearing long jeans, because in February it´s way too cold for a skirt :D :D

Hello :) Thank you for letting me know :)

I do love all the minisodes in New Who. Never seen one I didn't like tbh. The biggest Carnival in the UK was started by people of Caribbean origin or descent in Notting Hill in the west of London. and it is a summer event. It actually started with a children's street fair to celebrate the Caribbean community there. And it probably wouldn't have happened if they hadn't felt so oppressed and under siege at the time. https://nhcarnival.org/nhcs-story I do like your Amy cosplay and the ink hair. I won't ask about the skirt.

Hello! In Hungary, "carnival" is called "farsang" and is also in February.
