Death's Head: The Marvel/Transformers/Doctor Who Character

This one is complicated. VERY complicated. But worth it, yes?

Death's Head: The Marvel/Transformers/Doctor Who Character

Comments

I knew about him from the transformers and dr who comics, but didn't know about the marvel stuff, it was so interesting.

Sent ya a pm with my thoughts/a little think you message (Hope that's okay), but I love this video!! I'm a huge fan of Death's Head whack-ass backstory and it's fun to see it all laid out like this. He's very much a product of 2000 AD era comic book writing. IMO, for all of his weird canon ties, he feels most like something out of Judge Dredd or Rogue Trooper.

Yes I did make a list of Transformers Lore Corrections & Trivia, yes I will be putting it in the YT comments when this goes up there

Huh, that's entirely possible. Death's Head definitely isn't influenced BY him, DH was decades prior, but Zurg could have taken some inspiration from the older comics. Never heard anyone say that officially but I see the resemblance for sure.

There's a text box about it in there! It's really not as complex as you'd think, Marvel just published the one-page story to have a legal claim that DH was one of their characters. There's a wiki somewhere out there that says High Noon Tex came out before Death's Head debuted in Transformers but that's just not true, it was a later thing.

Matthew Selle

You didn't even mention "High Noon Tex" and the shenanigans that were pulled to claim Death's Head was not created under the Hasbro Transformers license but instead debuted in a Marvel UK non-Transformers one page story.

Christopher Ulichney

So the fun thing about Death's head is that transformers has its own Death's head inspired character. Introduced in animated, I believe (do correct me if I'm wrong, yes?) is the character Lockdown, who is an unaffiliated transformer bounty hunter with a removable hand.

Does Death’s Head have any design influences on or from Emperor Zurg?

Brenden Yee

Ha! Jeremy Bearimy. I understood that reference.

Also, Transformers One is probably the best place to start. The whole thing is a real mess of different shows and toys that have a similar theme but little direct connection. I love it so. If you want to research it, start with Chris McFeely's "The Basics On" you tube series

I love Death's Head so much. Created to solve the narrative issue of needing a Bounty Hunter who can fight transformers thats just how he works best. Need a badass in you story? Drop in DH.
