This is the second tribute episode that isn't written by Ryan Murphy. This is the second tribute to a deceased artist. The first one was Michael. The same day that shooting began, it was reported that the episode would be a tribute to Whitney Houston and feature her songs, though "not be a typical tribute" as the show had previously done for artists but rather a "character piece". Former glee club member Matt Rutherford (Dijon Talton) is seen in a still photograph near the end of the episode. Puck is missing during It's Not Right But It's Okay. When Blaine and Kurt are talking at Blaine's locker, the music note in his locker reverses during a camera angle change. When Kurt was in the music store, you can see a hand in the camera. After So Emotional, Rachel says they wasted three years to sing a duet when in fact they sang A Boy Like That/I Have A Love, I Kissed a Girl and We Found Love as duets earlier in the season. When Joe and Quinn are at the physical therapy the second time and are talking about Joe's faith, whenever the camera closes up on Joe's face, he has a lock of hair falling from the left side of his face. Whenever it shows both of them, the lock is tucked behind his ear. When Rachel is talking with Santana the photo that you can see in her notebook is there, then it's not, then it's there again before she gave it Santana. Kurt claims during an argument with Blaine that he used to get solos every week before Blaine transferred to McKinley, which, however, is untrue according to Kurt in Season One, where he joined the Cheerios because he thought he wasn't getting enough solos. Since he spent half of the school year at Dalton Academy in Season Two, it also seems unlikely that he had been talking about that time. During “Saving All My Love For You”, in some shots Finn has his arm around Rachel and then he doesn't and then he does. During “So Emotional”, Brittany is shown with a cellphone, but then when she is shown again in another shot, she doesn't have it. Also, at one point, Rachel doesn't move her lips while singing. Third, when Kurt receives a text from Chandler, the date is stated as March 13th, however this episode aired in late April. Also, it says that it's 7:51 pm, while it's obviously broad daylight outside and too late for the glee club to meet. This is might be the date and time when they're shooting the performance. During “It’s Not Right but It’s Okay”, at "there's no more tears left here", Rachel is seen laughing. During “ My Love Is Your Love”, in one shot, Kurt is on top of the piano, but when the camera zooms out, he is on the ground hugging everyone and singing. Then in the next shot, he is sitting on top of the piano again.
