2025-06-18 03:51:57 +0000 UTCMy only possible argument for why Queen Latifah's version of the song was good for the context of the movie is that it's a bit more quieter for that point in the movie. They moved it around a bit and so now it's being sung during the protest march where it's more meant to be peaceful and quieter. I do see how it's not to the service of the original song, but I think that it was changed to be a more peaceful protest song that an anguished singing song. Granted they might have changed it because Queen Latifah couldn't sing it in this way, but for how the movie changed the musical to be a movie, I like her in the role.
