Avowed - HDR Optimized Settings
Added 2025-02-14 09:39:09 +0000 UTC
The game DOES USE/APPLY Xbox HDR Calibration app settings but only partially while does not use the PC one at all.
The game has not a very good HDR implementation, I would say it doesn't even have one as it's SDR-only on PC while it will leverage AutoHDR on Xbox in a way like it seems native HDR (as it will actually apply system level HDR Calibration settings) up to 1.000 nits but then it will stop there.
The only provided in-game setting is in fact Gamma, which only relates to SDR (but can affect the HDR rendition as well):
So:
On Xbox: set the Gamma to 1.85 to compensate for the typical AutoHDR black level raise
On PC: leave Gamma to 2.20 for both playing it in SDR or leveraging RTX HDR on top of it (highly recommended)
BONUS:
Use the Balanced Mode (40fps) on Xbox Series X: if you have a 120hz display for the best, well, "balance" between visuals and performance
Use the Performance Mode (60fps) on Xbox Series X: if you don't have a 120hz display. You'll sacrifice some visuals but still better than playing at 30fps in 2025...
Use my mod on PC: to further optimize performance, latency and clarity with no visual loss ;)
Enjoy!

2025-05-15 17:51:26 +0000 UTCI would have the monitor in HDR, Windows in HDR and then configure RTX HDR properly to auto-convert the SDR rendition of the game (on PC) to HDR. Follow this guide: https://www.patreon.com/posts/99110213 (personally I wouldn't even install NVIDIA App, but do anything at drivers level with old NVIDIA Control Panel + NVIDIA Profile Inspector) Between my mod and other, I didn't even test others but only focused on improving mine so, yeah, you can test both and decide by yourself which performs better for your specific setup ;)

2025-02-16 08:31:56 +0000 UTCFirst, thanks, for this post as well as I'm NexusI second question, is it allowed or clamp? And what should we do with the HTR settings of our monitors? Should we just switch them back to SDR? Since the game is rendering in SDR, I feel like there's some weird snaggings going on with having HDR enable playing SDR game and I can't get RTX HDR to work either even though I have Auto HDR off so I'm kind of at a loss but it doesn't look too bad. iI just so happened to see your mod after I had already installed the other optimization. I'm wondering which is better Do you think yours is better? Be honest, I know you looked at Vyms? I'm going to try out his for a gaming session and then I'm going to try out yours and I'll report back. What's your take? I'm rocking a 4070 Super with an i714 00k 32. Gigs of RAM on my Odyssey g9 OLED and the performance is not great, but I'm guessing it's because it's got you know the 5120 1440 pixels to render
