Dragon Age: The Veilguard - HDR Optimized Settings

The game DOES USE/APPLY Xbox and Playstation HDR Calibration app settings, but strangely not PC ones.

The game has a good HDR implementation as it correctly reads/applies system level HDR Calibration settings to the game automatically on consoles, but strangely that's not the case on PC.

Luckily the game provides an in-game Peak HDR Luminance slider (in nits value) on PC which can go up to 10.000 nits, along with additional picture controls.

ON PC:

If you have an LG OLED and:

> you're using Dynamic Tone Mapping or Dynamic Contrast:

> you're using HGIG:

If you don't have an LG OLED and:

> you don't have an HGIG option:

> you're using HGIG:

In all cases, leave Brightness slider to 50% (Default) and increase the Contrast slider to 52% in order to fix a slight black level raise and improve the HDR rendition of the game.

BONUS:

Enjoy ;)

All is the same as launch HDR wise

There still a black level raise issue?

haris mohammad

No, native is good/better

P40L0

Is it worth trying out RTX HDR for this or just sticking with native?

Annoyinmous

I usually leave it on as it's a creative choice.

P40L0

Do you turn vignette on or off on ps5 viewing on lg oled HGIG?

Shploink

Love this, thanks brother!

I'm not using it and I'm 90% sure that it is disabled. I disabled it in Nvidia app "system-wide" and usually just enable sometimes manually if I want. I also never had problem like that in other games. But to be sure I will check tomorrow and let you know. Also I exaggerated when I said the image is "washed out". I think just some specular highlights like sun in the Lighthouse location.

Oskar Wysokiński

Are you using RTX HDR? Try disabling that for this game through NVIDIA Profile Inspector and see if it fixes it

Hi, I have a weird bug with HDR in this game on PC. Every time I launch the game, it displays image calibrated to crazy level of nits (5k+) and ignores what I have in settings. Once I open HDR calibration and just back out of that menu it fixes it. And the image is really washed without doing that. I have to do it every time. Have you noticed that?

Oskar Wysokiński

Thanks for the settings. Much appreciated!

Campbell Gilpin

Yes except for Contrast 52% (and Performance Mode over Fidelity)

P40L0

So on Xbox, just keep the default settings for the game?
