Important News & Announcements

First of all I would like to Thank You for your continuous and vital support on this project over the years.

I started sharing calibrated settings of my old LG 2017 B7 OLED to help others on both Reddit and ResetEra but over the years a non-stop conversation with both communities along with my growing passion for those TVs and HDR gaming in general led me to personally analyze and provide Optimized Settings also for over 230 HDR games as of today (bought & tested one by one)

Not only that, but thanks to your precious support I was also able to buy all current gen consoles and a brand new PC so to expand my testing & optimizations to PC Gaming and other Software & Hardware/Accessories as well.

For this reason, I've better organized all contents of this Patreon in dedicated Collections you can find (always updated) here :

Another important change, following your feedback, is that from now on you can also choose to Buy single Posts forever, if you prefer.

For example if you want to access specific HDR games' settings only (including all updates I can make for them in the future, e.g. after games' updates which may alter HDR rendition and/or adding extra suggestions for them) you can buy those post individually and they'll remain accessible to you, forever.

The price will always be of around 3.50$ for each (which is the lowest price Patreon allows me to set)

Considering I will regularly keep adding new Games' and PC/Hardware/Software settings, becoming a regular Member remains more convenient on the long run, but I know many followers may still prefer having this option included as well.

Stay tuned for new settings

Even if many years already passed since I started all of this, I still feel like this is only the beginning.

LG OLEDs (and other TVs) settings will still continue to improve whenever needed, new accessories and consoles are on the horizon (PS5 Pro, Switch 2 and future Xbox-es rumored in 2026) and many more HDR games to test are already on my list, including:

Could you make a guide on optimizing the Steam Deck? I think you would do the best job out of everyone online! Thank you!

SirBilliam

Hi! I'm aready (partially) covering Switch 2 recommendations in the latest LG OLEDs charts as it seems very similar to PS4/PS4 Pro capabilities HDR wise so suggestions will be really similar. If something will be unique after launch I will cover that too ;)

P40L0

Hi Paolo, love the great work! I’m not sure where to ask this, but how soon after launch will you be able to start covering the Switch 2, since it will now have HDR support? Thanks!

Samantha Tich

Yes, there is the bottom section of each game recommending what to set for other TVs/Monitors other than LG

P40L0

Are your HDR recommendations also applicable to monitors? More specifically, to mini LED monitors with DisplayHDR 1400?

Elmicha

It's SDR only for now :( So just use AutoHDR or RTX HDR on PC

P40L0

Hoping for some kingdom come deliverance 2 settings soon 🙏

Lewis King

These TVs are not monitors and are pre-calibrated from the factory with a 4:4:4 target (which is always Limited) and not Full RGB

P40L0

Any reason not to use RGB instead of 4:4:4? What's the difference if you don't mind me asking.

Ownsin

4:4:4 Limited @ 10-bit Then on the TV use PC Mode/Icon and also enable 4:4:4 Pass Through at the same time and use my latest settings

P40L0

Apologies, but I have another question. https://i.imgur.com/5r6PFKK.png In the screenshot which output color format should I select for my LG C2 in PC mode? And should the color depth be 10bit or 12bit? Thank you.

Ownsin

No, as you will mess up native HDR this way. Stick with my PC Guide.

P40L0

https://github.com/Animesh-Does-Code/win11hdr-srgb-to-gamma2.2-ahk Is this needed for my LG C2 PC setup?

Ownsin

For G3/G4 settings recommendations didn't change, which you can still find here: https://www.resetera.com/threads/lg-2017-2024-oleds-optimized-settings-for-xbox-one-series-x-s-ps4-ps5-switch-pc-and-webos-movies-sdr-hdr-dv.73304/post-119780799

P40L0

The Nvidia app is now out of beta and has officially replaced Geforce Experience. I noticed that the RTX HDR setting now defaults to 1,000 nits peak brightness but the slider goes up to 1,500. Middle greys are 50, contrast 0, and Saturation 0. Can you advice me whether to keep this at default or adjust for my LG G4? Thank you

William Z

If you watch movies is not recommended as both PC Icon and 4:4:4 will disable many useful Clarity settings for movies as Smooth Gradation, Real Cinema, TruMotion and Super Resolution. Personally I use my PC for everything including gaming with PC Mode + 4:4:4 enabled, but for movies I just switch to webOS apps + Home Theater or Xbox (with PC Mode/4:4:4 disabled and with a properly working ALLM for movies) + Dolby Atmos for Headphones

P40L0

Hey, you mentioned If I'm using PC that I should use the PC Icon + 4:4:4 Passthrough. But what if I watch movies on my PC? And why isn't it recommended to watch movies on the PC Icon + 444 Passthrough?

Ownsin

Yes, I've already updated it here: https://www.patreon.com/posts/63787156

P40L0

Will you be able to review the HDR on the Horizon Zero Dawn Remaster?

Zebra Matt

I meant movie columns in my chart so: ISF Expert Dark for SDR and HDR Cinema for HDR. DV shouldn't work on PC but if you manage use DV Cinema Home for movies also

P40L0

Hello, can you please tell me in your oled settings here https://i.imgur.com/8XcbDjU.png. You mentiom that we should use movie picture mode for movies for PC in HDR or SDR. But there is no movies picture mode or webos picture mode for that matter. Did you mean Cinema Home for PC for both SDR and Home?

Ownsin

I'll see if I can next week

P40L0

Hi, will you be covering the HDR on the Monster Hunter: Wilds Beta?

Ownsin

It's fake. Game Optimizer is mostly the same (with also Dynamic Color Boosting still disabled there), while it's Filmmaker Mode on G3 that received a +100-150 nits boost on average, making it basically on par of G4 luminance wise now.

P40L0

It`s true that the new update (webos24), brings a 300nits amount on G3? i see lot a youtubers that talk about it, that add a boost brightnnes for gaming or is fake news ?

nERv

No, you can also find the recently updated chart for 2019-2022 OLEDs here: https://i.imgur.com/8XcbDjU.png

P40L0

Hey, have you stopped doing updates to the settings for the LG C2 Oleds? Your spreadsheet is all about the 2023-2024 Oleds and nothing before.

Ownsin

It's worth it and you don't need to change settings after. You can read more here: https://www.avsforum.com/posts/63577377/

P40L0

WebOS 24 is now available for LG C3. Is it worthwhile to update the OS, or will it ruin calibrations?

Kotaku Otaku

Yeah, I will have a more in-depth look at that in the near future

P40L0

Are you going to release a an option for dbz when it’s available to you

Larry Wesby

Ok thanks

Larry Wesby

Colors seem ruined with HDR, so I think it's broken right now. Stick with SDR until they patch it

P40L0

Hi. Good morning! What’s the best brightness level for sparkling zero on ps5 with oled g3 tv

Larry Wesby

Unfortunately Space Marine 2 is only SDR... So if you play it on PC just use RTX HDR.

P40L0

We're all proud of you and appreciate your efforts. One question thku8, where's Space Marine 2?🧐😳

Kevin Landry

Okay thanks

Larry Wesby

It's SDR only so leave it at default or lower it a bit (around 25-30) if you want a bit more contrast.

P40L0

What image calibration number to put it on wukong from a oled lg g3 oled (ps5)

Larry Wesby

To me it’s strange, I have a LG G3 and set everything right, chose Balanced Mode but when I click on my remote button it still shows 60 fps regardless if it’s balanced, quality or performance. I cannot see the 30fps for quality or 45 for balanced.

VICTOR COIMBRA

Dude, I can't wait! I've appreciated the minutiae of your HDR work about two years and I want to keep up my support! It's helped me extract more from my consoles and my LG B9 OLED

Victor Luong

For PS5 version: if you have a 120hz TV (possibly with VRR) play it with Balanced Mode (which will be around 1080p internal res upscaled to 4K at around 40-45fps average). If you have a 60hz display, use Performance Mode (Dynamic 1080p which can go down as low as 720p at 60fps) Avoid the Quality/30fps mode...

P40L0

Thank you so much for your response! I’ve been regularly checking your excellent guides for every game I play, so I had already updated the DLSS .dll files based on your previous recommendations. When the benchmark tool was released, I immediately noticed that setting full ray tracing to "very high" made a big difference. My goal was to achieve smooth FPS with that setting. However, after actually playing the game, I realized I prefer ray tracing set to "medium" while increasing other settings instead. Current Settings: DLSS Render Scale: 50% Frame Generation: On View Distance Quality: Cinematic Anti-Aliasing Quality: Cinematic Post-Effects Quality: Cinematic Shadow Quality: High Texture Quality: Cinematic Visual Effect Quality: Cinematic Hair Quality: High Vegetation Quality: Cinematic Global Illumination Quality: High Reflection Quality: Cinematic Motion Blur: Off Full Ray Tracing: Medium PC Specs: CPU: Ryzen 7 7800X3D GPU: RTX 4080 Super (mild overclock) RAM: 32GB With these settings, I’m able to maintain around 100 FPS at 4K.

Adelpha

Thank you very much for all the provide info! Do you have any tips for PS5 version?

VICTOR COIMBRA

I'm out of town and can't directly test it again until this weekend, but from what I've seen quickly the game is VERY demanding but at the same time Full RT (Path Tracing) is worth it as it fixes most software Lumen artifacts (like noisy shadows, SSR breaking up, vegetation shimmering and more). In my opinion you should first replace DLSS .dll inside the game folder (upgrading from default old 3.1 to newest 3.7.20 and same thing for FG and RR .dlss) then if you game at 4K: lower Render Scale to 50% at max, enable both DLSS Frame Gen and DLSS Ray Reconstruction. If you have anything less performant than a 4080/4090, lower target res from 4K and as graphic preset don't use "Cinematic" globally, but you can lower everything to High and then start to increase the things you care most to Very High at max. Also update your NVIDIA drivers to latest 560.94 (which were released today) with official support for Wukong ;) P.S. The game is also oversharpened in all cases at the moment and there's nothing you can do about it for now.

P40L0

Thank you for all your work and the quick tip about Wukong! I’ve been regularly checking your Patreon for updates on this game. I was hoping for some settings recommendations since we have pretty similar setups.

Adelpha

Yeah, Wukong is a visual showcase but without native HDR it loses a lot... From what I've seen so far it's best to leave it at its default SDR Brightness and just use RTX HDR on PC, but I still hope native HDR will be added at some point in the future

P40L0

Thanks for your work ! Also hope your settings on black myth wukong coming soon, not having a HDR in a game like this in 2024 is straight criminal…

lcs M
