Dragon's Dogma 2 - HDR Optimized Settings
Added 2024-03-22 13:38:19 +0000 UTC
The game is NOT using/applying Xbox/Playstation or PC HDR Calibration app settings.
The game provides similar in-game HDR sliders to recent Resident Evil games, but currently the Peak HDR Luminance control seems broken as, even if you change it, max luminance seems fixed around 800-900 nits max.

Until Capcom fixes this Max Brightness (HDR) slider you can keep it as Default/Middle position and evaluate using HGIG if you have an 800 nits TV (like most LG OLEDs) otherwise Dynamic Tone Mapping is recommended for now.

The other Brightness (HDR) slider seems working instead but you can leave it at its Default/Middle position as it already represents a balanced Exposure/Gamma.
Enjoy :)

2024-03-27 19:18:21 +0000 UTCIs it normal that the blacks looks so grey even at night in this game ?

2024-03-27 19:08:17 +0000 UTCIt's more around 30-35 there and unfortunately PS5 doesn't support LFC VRR so anything below 48fps won't be adjusted by it and will feel bad when unlocked like this...

2024-03-23 18:31:42 +0000 UTCIt's actually very bad optimized also on PC. On XSX can stay unlocked around 40 fps which will look and feel infinitely better at 120hz + VRR compared to locked 30, but like I said the game is just poorly optmized everywhere at the moment...

2024-03-23 18:10:36 +0000 UTCThe micro transactions are just classic Capcom allowing you to buy things you can otherwise unlock simply by playing. You can ignore the micro transactions and experience everything you'd expect to be able to in the game, don't worry. And the framerate isn't a stable 60fps for sure, but actually it's been solid enough in the 45-60fps range not to detract from the immersion or gameplay at all. Everyone's mileage will vary, but I think missing out on what's one of the best gameplay experiences of the year because of an overblown community reaction would be a shame!

2024-03-22 17:18:38 +0000 UTCYou can change the characters look in game. But still, a hate mtx.

2024-03-22 17:13:01 +0000 UTCI’m using Sony A95L. Is the equivalent to dynamic tonemapping “brightness preferred”. Normally I use “gradation preferred”. Appreciate this is not LG but any advice welcome.

2024-03-22 13:58:57 +0000 UTCOn 2023+ models? No, FMM + DTM now will look good with any Peak HDR value you throw at it... :D You can evaluate forcing HGIG in FMM via ColorControl if you want a slightly better input lag, but then you need to accept that only where you can set the exact nits of the TV will actually look "perfect".

2024-03-22 13:46:45 +0000 UTCIf we normally run DTM in Filmmaker mode, would you recommend for this game to instead run HGIG in Game mode (until they fix the brightness slider)?
