Happy New Year (and what's planned for it)

Hello, my awesome Patrons!

I hope you all had a great holiday season and I wish you a Happy New Year 2019!

2018 saw significant updates, particularly to Devious Devices for Skyrim and Deviously Cursed Loot. It was fun to work on all these shiny new lockable things and the quest content using it, and I can already promise you that 2019 will be no less exciting! I am already working on some really fun new features I am sure you will love! Here are a few things that are either planned or already actively worked on.

1. Deviously Cursed Loot

DCL saw a new major version in fall 2018, and I am happy that it was so well received by users, particularly the two large new features, Chloe and XDFF. For the latter, there is already a 3rd party expansion available, even - implementing more rules for the system to use!

DCL will continue to be a major focus of what I am going to work on. One really large feature I already talked about in the last update is in active development right now. It will be the largest Skyrim quest I have ever written, and tell a new story about Sasha and how you will acquire her as a follower. I originally planned to release this quest in version 7, but I quickly realized that this would be impossible given the sheer scope of it. To give you an impression what it will be like: Chloe's quest takes about 2-3 hours to complete. Saving Sasha has four times as many quest stages than Chloe! It could easily be a stand-alone quest mod, given its sheer size. Oh, and btw, you can expect to see Chloe again in that quest!

XDFF will see its second phase of development, focusing on better dialogue options that will bring your dominant followers more alive. Also, I plan to introduce "errands" to XDFF, which will be a special kind of "rule" modelling tasks your master can give you and you will have to complete.

I also heard feedback about our awesome straitjacket models not seeing much love, either by DCL nor other modders. Ok, that's indeed a shame, so let's change that! There will be a quest featuring them!

Another feature originally planned for the 7.x series that I will work on is the "bondage club", featuring a kink-themed inn with assorted NPCs and games and vendors for Skyrim's more kinky population.

2. Devious Devices

DD saw two large releases in 2018, and we already have plans for more! Most of the recent work has gone into the upcoming furniture component (dubbed Devious Devices - Contraptions), which is in its final alpha stages right now. There were some quirks that needed ironing out, but I am sure modders will love the new framework and its features, which will give them powerful new ways to work with bondage furniture that were not available in any other mod before. I am pretty confident that a beta version featuring a limited number of devices will be ready for public release quite soon!

Of course the wearable devices side will not be neglected either! Some things on the DD roadmap for 2019 are

- More rope devices
- A modern chastity gear set (with side cuffs and thigh cuffs)
- Improvements for the bound combat system that will make it more powerful and thus make bound combat more viable.
- More "lore-friendly" devices
- Integration of ZAP 7 items (which I secured ZaZ's permission for)
- More struggle and bound sex animations
and much more!

3. Skyrim SE

2018 saw the first ever official release of DD and DCL for Skyrim SE. While SE support is still not perfect, and some core dependency are still missing, the DD family of mods works mostly fine in SE. The current download is still based on DCL 6.4 and DD 4.1, I will see that the SE branch gets updated to the newest versions in the not too distant future.

4. Fallout 4

Ok, Fallout didn't see too many updates lately, but this is something on my to-do list as well. There are a number of new devices I will release for FO4 DD soon, along with some much needed cleanup of the assets. There is a major revamp of the devices implementation I have in mind for FO4 DD, that should increase its performance considerably and make it easier for modders to use. This will mean a lot of work for me, as I will have to touch every single device in DD and rewrite large portions of the code, so there is no ETA for this, but it will happen. That change should also make DD better compatible with AAF.

I hope you find these plans as exciting as I do! I would be curious what you think of them, and your other suggestions/ideas! Feel free to leave them here!

Comments

Idea/Suggestion: A breathplay latex mask: When worn, the oxygen runs out as if diving under water. Could be used by Master/Mistress as punishment or as alternative to shock collar (many more scenarios possible).

I'm looking forward to the new Sasha quest. And also to everything else that you cook up in 2019. Have fun! :)

Wonderful update!! I wish you could do this full time.. I suppose I'm doing my part in a way

I must to say that all of those stuff you have wrote about, sound exciting. No-no-no, wrong word... What word I must to use to underline phrase "more than just exciting"? :) Kimy and the DD team, you did a great work during 2018. Wish you the best luck, inspiration and good mood for all of yours innovations and continuations. P. S. If you are interesting in some ideas, I would happy to see some interaction with arm and leg cuffs. What if there will be a way to add a lock (or two) to make arm cuffs connect (elbowbinder animation), and the same with leg cuffs (hobble animation).
