It is time to take a look at Taxims!!! Aka Taksims, Taxsims
I think I forgot to mention in the video how common it is to see backbends used with Taxims. Oops!!

This is an interesting one to watch as you can watch 3 dancers all hearing it for the first time, interpreting it at the same time from the Belly Dancer of thr Universe Competition. I am.not sure when they changed the format to 3 at once but it used to be just 1 at a time.

Here is the winner of the Taxim Category in 2013, a fellow Canadian❤, Anjelica Scannura, gorgeous performance and that split was just flawless! Anjelica has been on the stage since her early childhood and is the daughter of a Flamenco musician father and Flamenco Dancer mother and is also an exceptional irish dancer as well:)

Here is the winner from 2010, a beautiful performance by Katya Maya (Note how different the energy and style is from the winning performance in 2013 and how different the music itself is).

Here is one of the absolute Queens of Belly dance, Sadie performing a beautiful Taxim live with an Oud player, Rachid Halihal. Notice how when live it goes on for well over 6 minutes of magic.

Along that note here is Sadie again with a live band doing a live rendition of "Aziza" followed by a Taxim followed by a drum solo. Wonderful performance by everyone involved. This should give you an idea of a what it is like when Mejance, Taxim and Drum Solo all come together for a set. https://youtu.be/VomRL4CQpNg
