Using denoising to reduce samples and rendering time

I wanted to see if I could reduce rendering time by decreasing the number of samples. From what I see, I do not think there is any real difference between 500 samples denoised and 2000 samples denoised. Even zooming in at 200% does not seem to impact the quality.

What do you all think?

Very valid point. I think what I will do is if I can time things so I am trickling scenes here and there, I can keep the samples high. I did purchase the render doctor, which allows me to queue up renders overnight. Saved me a lot of time.

Although 2000 samples is noticeably better In the image here, you can get away with lower samples with denoising if it saves you a lot of rendering time. When you are doing a close up of a face however, it's best to use a higher number of samples with no denoising to preserve as much of the detail in the skin and eyes as possible. This is just my opinion though.

Yeah I can't tell the difference either
