One of the sacrifices we made with Retrograde Amnesia was to deliberately not spoil elements of Xenogears as we produced the fifty-five episode run of our first season. This made it approachable for listeners who wanted to play along for the first time, but not optimal for Xenogears veterans who may have wanted a master’s thesis level dissemination of its plot machinations, and the influence of Xenogears’ lore book Perfect Works, in real time. The goal of this bonus episode is to examine the fifteen Gazel Ministry’s sequences, beat-by-beat, and determine what in the exact hell they’re talking about, and how it influences events that unfold over the course of Xenogears. We’re looking for meaning inside of dialogue that either seemed overloaded with gobbledygook or appeared to projectile vomit into Xenogears’ labyrinthine narrative in the form of aimless lore fodder. We’re trying to find truth.
