two things I wanted to mention, Emerelda's gear while not an omni gear doesnt really need to be one probably because A) shes not biological and couldnt interface with an anima relic, and B) she physically merges with her gear melding her mind directly with it which is the equivalent of the biggest advantage of an omnigear in the first place. I interpreted Lacan "needing" to go get paint as a lie more or less (either he had plenty, or he intentionally wasted it) so that he would have an excuse to come back. the moment he finished the painting was the moment he would no longer be able to see her, so it was a delaying tactic, which I can't blame him for.
