This beautiful, ivory-colored cloak is made from the semi-translucent outer skin of a Lunacera. These particular layers on the Lunacera never stop growing; eventually, the creature sheds the old layer and replaces it with a new one underneath. For generations, locals have collected and used this skin to make various ceremonial attires. When they find a case where the magical circuits in the skin are still in good condition and active, they preserve it and craft it into special attire that retains the Lunacera’s innate ability to bend and distort light.

When the Silver Sanctuary took root in the area and integrated local traditions into its religious rites, this practice continued under the blessing of The Silver Maiden. The goddess’s additional blessing also granted the cloak more power whenever it is exposed to moonlight.

Crafted from the semi-translucent skin of a Lunacera, the Midnight Mantle bends and distorts light around you. The cloak appears to shimmer and shift, making it difficult for others to see you. While wearing the Midnight Mantle, you are slightly blurry and hard to focus on. Creatures have disadvantage on Wisdom (Perception) checks made to see you or discern your features. Additionally, when you take the Dodge action while in dim light, darkness, or under the moonlight, you become invisible to creatures that rely on darkvision to see until the start of your next turn.

Veil of Distortion. While wearing this cloak in darkness or under the moonlight, attacks against you that originate from more than 5 feet away are made with disadvantage, and you have advantage on saving throws against effects that target only you, as your exact position appears to shift and waver, making it hard to pinpoint.
