Jackary Archives Returns - Now With Daily Discussion

Hey folks, at the end of last month I posted about how Jackary Archives was getting a little bit of a revamp, where I’d come back to posting art every day, but instead of having a long description, I would start including a daily discussion prompt. Everyone who has stuck with me for this long… I want to get to know you guys better!

The new Archives posts will feature a random artwork from my backlog, and a discussion prompt that may be related to the artwork, or completely random.

Today’s post is Mitsuru Kirijo in lingerie, a piece from 2020!

Discussion Prompt:

I want to get to know you guys! Feel free to answer any (or all) of the following questions of your choosing:

1) What are you playing and/or watching right now?

2) If you could choose ANY character in the world for me to draw, who would it be?

UFO 50 is a video game based on Action 52 (the NES game with 52 underwhelming games on it, infamous for The Cheetahmen). There's 50 games in the collection, they make up a fictional console's entire library, and you get to see the games and the technology behind them grow over the console's lifespan. Some of the games are sequels and spinoffs of others! The whole thing costs $25 and there were multiple games in it that could've been released on their own and ended up successful.

I'm a bit OCD, so I'd tell you to start with the first one (and I mean Demons' Souls). But then it gets... progressively more complex and with more modern game features from there. I know you don't have all the time in the world, so with that in mind I'd tell you to start with Elden Ring. Best features, best matchmaking, best environment, best useability. It's set downable if you're doing microdungeons and small regions at a time.

Roamnesia

Control is a 3rd person shooter with powers a little like Bioshock I guess except you're not constantly switching your powers around. The story, however, is cthulhu meets SCP style paranormal encounters with crazy objects and a government agency that deals with / controls them. The atmosphere is amazing and the world building is some of the best I've experienced. I nabbed it on sale for about $7 and would recommend it if you're looking to go down a rabbit hole. I 100%d it in about 40 hours.

Depression Machine

YO THAT'S A GREAT IDEA!!!

I like zzz more because of the style, and the play is more active. I actually disliked Star rail at first because all the characters in the tutorial felt like "two button to brrrr." Kinda damning for gameplay to lack strategy in a turn based RPG. Thinking is pretty much all you get. Eventually a character came out that I thought looks cool as heck, and then I got more characters and saw they actually do neat things with their kits. So... Peer pressure won eventually. Zzz clicked immediately for me. The style is off the charts. The characters all play markedly different from one another, even the 4 stars. It even feels like it has more complexity in team building than Star rail. A major component of gameplay is swapping characters to negate attacks, so even if you focus your team on one character, the others still get screen time. Ironically, zzz still hasn't released a character that I just fell in love with. So far they're all just cool, but none that speak to me directly. Zzz's general style is killer, but star rail feels like it has cooler individual characters.

Donald

I’d love to see your take on Kassandra from Assassin’s Creed Odyssey!

EugeneTM_Gaming

I think the story is really good, though it's very character-driven and reliant on side stories (that you should organically encounter) to make it comprehensive. The way it progresses is basically that you're working your way through and liberating 5 major regions, of which I'm currently in the 4th. Each region is under control of the Zenoiran empire, so as far as main story, you're primarily following interactions with certain characters per region. Side stories, however, are probably your main introduction to new characters and they vary in length. Speaking of characters, there are a fucking million of them, because you can have a total of 10 units which, when fully upgraded, are each made up of 5 individual charactes. With how many there are, there's BOUND to be at least a few that you're drawn to. So far, I like everyone, but because there's so many, not everyone can receive a ton of depth through main/side story stuff. You can get a lot of nice interactions through the rapport system interaction, though, like in fire emblem.

Lusamine is from Sun and Moon, so there you go! Hilariously I actually have only played this one and the one directly before it, which is confusingly named "Yakuza: Like A Dragon." It's the point in the series where they pivoted to a new lead and went turn based RPG with it. I tried it at a very aggressive suggestion and went from being very into it to ending up realizing I had just played one of my favorite games ever. Even without the context of the series, it's a massive love letter to the turn-based genre.

Travis Hymas

That’s a very difficult question to answer lol. I would say Genshin impact. Could be biased since been playing day 1 for over 4 years. All 3 games story are great. Genshin has huge amount of exploration, 6 continents to explore. Star rail is turn based focused, and zenless is heavy combat focused. Real enemy of all 3 games is the rng of gacha system.

LittleHero

Something to look forward to in the future, whenever that may be 🫡

Mavey

I mean unfortunately I can't fit any new drawings into my queue, these questions are mostly for curiosity XD but if I ever get the chance I really would love to draw a mental-health positive Jinx exploring the world haha, I already have neat atmospheric ideas in my head...

Zach H

Among the guys, Yusuke, and among the girls, Haru

Antasma1

i broke up with pokemon after Sun Moon and I debated getting back in with Arceus but man the older I get the harder it is for me to play open world unless it's like 11/10 once in a generation shit

Zach H

oh you can bet I watched it ASAP tbh I had some qualms with Act 3, I thought S2 was 10/10 until the last two episodes and then I feel like they kinda lost the plot a bit... but I have to clarify that I still LOVED it and that Arcane at its worst is still better than most shows at their best

Zach H

Who's your favorite P5 character? Unfortunately that's the only Persona game I've played :')

Zach H

It’s a season of super sentai, the show power rangers is adapted from

Spencer

hold on what? that actually sounds so sick my gaming time is SO limited now that I don't really get new games anymore unless I know I'll REALLY like it as a yuuuuge fan of tactics games that sounds really appealing. how is the story/characters? I've been craving a new IP that has really good characters I can get into

Zach H

between Star Rail and ZZZ, which one do you like more and why?

Zach H

man I'm still in agreement that goth dark aqua would be some fire-ass shit

Zach H

How does that one compare to, say, Persona 5? I only got like 60% of the way through P5 (loved it, just dropped it bc I got really busy) so that's the only frame of reference I have lol also Red is so pretty! I remember starting Transistor but I also never finished that one oof

Zach H

i'm surprised i've only drawn two pokemon girls ever LMAO unfortunately the last one I played was Sun/Moon, I've been checked out of it for a while my friend always has such good things to say about the Yakuza/Like a Dragon games, which one would be a good one to start with if you were a newcomer to the series?

Zach H

What's that one about? I'm assuming it's an anime and I know like NOTHING about anime plz halp

Zach H

for your money, what is the best Hoyoverse game? I like the idea of playing them but I find myself psychologically incapable of committing to games that are neverending

Zach H

I know Control won GOTY (at least on IGN lmaoo) a few years ago but I don't actually know anything about it, what kind of a game is it?

Zach H

I've never actually played Dark Souls :O The only FromSoftware game I've played is Sekiro... if I were to try out a Dark Souls which would be the best one to start with?

Zach H

What is even the UFO 50?! And I actually haven't drawn Urbosa! or any Gerudo in fact :') but a Vi would also be FIRE because I'm so in an arcane mood rn

Zach H

1. I'm currently playing the various games in UFO 50. 2. At the top of my head, Urbosa. But if she's already been drawn, Vi from Arcane.

Machyne

All the Dark Souls all the time. Pirotess from Record of the Lodoss war!

Roamnesia

1 - Just got back into WoW and my girlfriend got back into FFXIV. I finished Control not too long ago though and I'm still thinking about it fairly often. Not really watching anything right now though besides the weekly releases of Bleach. 2 - I've been dying for you to draw Noel from Burn the Witch for such a long time! Honestly I'd settle for Orihime, from Bleach, but in my heart of hearts it's gotta be Noel.

Depression Machine

1. Playing the 3 Hoyoverse games at the moment. Genshin Impact, Honkai Star Rail and Zenless Zone Zero. Very convenient they’re all on console/ ps5. 2. Definitely still want to see Cia (Hyrule Warriors) drawn in your art style. Very underrated Zelda character.

LittleHero

1 - been watching ressha sentai toqger 2 - Magik from x-men

Spencer

1. Literally continuing my year long playthrough of Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth right now lol 2. If interest was not a factor at all, I would continue my quest to commission as much Nico Robin work as possible. But out of a desire for you to actually enjoy it, I'd probably pick someone like Lusamine or Nessa from Pokémon, they're cute and familiar!

Travis Hymas

1: I just finished Metaphor: Refantazio. 2: I'd love to see you draw Red from Transistor.

Hunter Barnes

I actually went into it thinking it was like fire emblem, and it's like... 50% similar maybe? The battles are on a top-down map like FE, but not turned based, they happen in real time. However, you can pause time to make decisions. Fights between units are also automatic, but your units are squads of characters rather than one individual character, so part of the strategy is creating your squads and picking your battles wisely. The world is free roam, and all the battles you do are liberating towns/cities, many of which carry their own side stories, so every battle is worth fighting. This gameplay loop is hella addicting, in my opinion. Like fire emblem, there's also a rapport system, so you can have a wife (or husband) and there is some VARIETY to the character roster. Game is honestly 10/10 so far

Scarfy

I adore her design in Arcane, and her last look in season 2 was a BANGER!!! So anything that isn't like the game will be good for me! 🥰🙏

Mavey

It's SO GOOD. The sound track is insane. Art style/animation is still amazing. Literally cannot recommend it enough. It's a need to watch.

Rain

HEY so how does Unicorn Overlord compare to FE? Is it similar at all? It looks like the kind of game that's up my alley but tbh I don't know very much about it a jackary Sonic character drawing is probbbb pretty unlikely but yo cyberpunk peach would FUCK

Zach H

1: Currently an anime called Carol & Tuesday, literally started it like 40min ago 2: Goth Dark Aqua. Which I would 100% commission you for this if I had the money haha

PolkuCow (Josef)

oooh Jinx! it's funny, now that all is said and done, Jinx is probably my favorite character of the show, which is a testament to the quality of its writing because I usually am NOT a very big fan of the Harley Quinn/Jinx archetype but gawdDAYUM she's just such a great character in that show I would love to draw a concept piece of a post-S2 Jinx 👀 but how would youuu like to see her?

Zach H

It’s actually really fun. I love open world games cause I can get distracted and just explore and catch pokemon while putting off the main story. If you like open world/get distracted type games you’ll have a great time with this

Sturgess1A

1: mostly just treading water in gacha games at the moment. Namely Star rail and zzz. 2: zas from Cris tales. Also known as that game I need to beat eventually.

Donald

trying to provide more interaction for Daiquiri tier since I've been too busy for polls :'| the desire to draw the Arcane girls is definitely STRONG after watching Arcane. I may have their lezbeen music track stuck in my head on repeat (ALONG WITH LIKE 12 OTHER ARCANE SONGS) how is Arceus? i deadass haven't played a pokemans since Sun/Moon

Zach H

What did you think of Arcane Season 2? 👀 Tell me EVERYTHINGGG

Zach H

Currently between Unicorn Overlord and Marvel Rivals, for the most part. That is an extremely difficult question. Maybe cyberpunk Peach, similar to the Zelda and Samus? I have a preference for petite girls, so I'm particularly fond of those illustrations. Alternatively, I'm a big sonic fan, so it would be super interesting to see you learn to draw a character like Amy Rose.

Scarfy

1. Attending to my backlog, namely Dragon Ball Z Kakarot ‘s post game so I’m ready for Sparking Zero. 2. I’m jumping between Persona 5 characters in my head, then I remembered Elizabeth from Persona 3

Antasma1

Currently rewatching Arcane on Netflix. And playing FFXIV online. If I could choose any character for you to draw... I'd probably say Carmilla from the YouTube series Carmilla on KindaTV

Rain

Ooh I like this idea of questions 1. I am playing Pokémon: Legends Arceus right now 2. Cait/Vi or Anju still would love to see (yes I know you’re still backed up on comms)

Sturgess1A

I'm currently going through Nier Replicant again on PC and struggling with an unsolvable frame drop at the 15-minute mark (I've tried every solution online). And ANY character in the world? Well... you know how Arcane just ended and how I asked about Jinx a long time ago? 👀👀👀
