Sacred Symbols+, Episode 503 | God of War: Sons of Sparta Review Discussion and Spoilercast

Same. Platinum this game. It’s pretty good but so much is poorly explained that I didn’t unlock basically anything until the last 15% of the story. Then I crushed out the remaining part. Good title but execution was absolutely trash.

I just got the Platinum yesterday. I can't believe that there was this belt basically from the beginning of the game (if you had 7500 orbs to spare) that would highlight the walls that we can interact. I only spent those 7500 orbs to open that barrier when I was almost done. I spent hours looking for those hidden cats and chests kneeling down near every wall.

Colin apologizing for not liking Greek Mythology… I don’t think Homer was offended to begin with

I will say that if the option is the best looking pixel art game versus the top of 2.5D I’m taking the best pixel art every day. Sadly, those just don’t really exist anymore and Sons of Sparta is not close to that.

The Rose Experience

I have no clue how you can think the recent crop of 2.5D games look cheap while simultaneously calling Sons of Sparta, beautiful. It’s subjective, but if I load up the latest Prince of Persia, or Shinobi Art of Vengeance, we’re going to fight if you claim they’re not better looking games. Ultimately, I just don’t know why this game exists in relation to God of War. What does it do to serve the overall narrative and direction the franchise is pushing? Unless a new game references what it’s doing lore wise, it has no reason. No one was clamouring to learn about kid Kratos at all and we already had a prequel-ish on PSP. What would have made way more sense narratively is if they covered the journey from Greek mythology to arriving to begin his life in the Norse. This is a ridiculous omission in the God of War transition that still hasn’t been remotely covered. A comic touched on it, vaguely and a couple lines in 2018’s game referenced. Still a mystery.

On the streams. The talking and coverage streams are so much more entertaining.

My dog started barking and snarling at the TV when I entered the room with all the pigs in the foreground

Yes, more Radec, this guy knows his stuff!

Daddy T

Agree with this. Just beat the 4th boss and it's really starting to click for me!

Meatball

In this very episode he calls it mediocre many times and says it “wouldn’t even make a list of the top 25 Metroidvania games” what are you looking for? You can find something mediocre while also recognizing it may be unfairly maligned in some ways.

Colin is the king of thinking 6’s are better than they are. In the last five years has there been a single game that was widely recognized as mediocre that he didn’t think was “being treated unfairly” or “much better than people are giving it credit for”, or “people are being too harsh on it”.

Big Booty Latinas Can Stay

I was gonna comment that until he realized mythology isn’t history.

23 hrs in and 53% completion. The more I play, the better im finding it gets. Started at 7, but I think I might be placing this at maybe an 8 by the time I'm done.

Jacob Lesperance

I understand Colin not trusting history, but what does that have to do with this fantasy videogame? Lol

WhiskeyShoots

whoa its cool seeing radic back so soon!

Henry3K

Damn fast turn around. I’m like 13 hours in and mostly through the main story but not even halfway through getting any of the side stuff done. This game is meaty.
