Defining Duke, Episode 263 | It's FINALLY Fable Time!

After years of secrecy and many delays, Xbox is set to pull the lid off one of its most anticipated RPGs at the upcoming Developer Direct. First rumored in 2017 and announced in 2020, Fable has been baking at Playground Games, the prolific racing game studio, for a long, long time. Now, Xbox promises a deep dive on everything from combat and choice to British humor and chickens. Is it do or die time for Fable? How does its early year showing shake up the already packed summer showcase? Will we finally get a release date? Perhaps just a release year? Indeed, there are so many questions, but most of these will be announced very shortly!

#DDHopeful Great episode guys!

Towerborne update sounds good. I’ll give it another shot. At the minimum, I just wanna see Persona 5 X on consoles. Something this year. Solid ep this week dukes. #DDHopeful

I’m looking forward to seeing what it shakes up to be. 🤷🏻‍♂️

I understand Mattys and Cogs take on Avowed. As a fellow Larian lover Avowed is absolutely poop when compared as an RPG

I think accessibility is important, but yeah I hate when I beat a game on difficult and am not retarded for it. Shout out to your bro!!!! Keep stacking those bodies haha

Hellblade 1 has good, but not two sequels good.

I have a huge problem with Cog’s “foundational game” take. That made sense when dev cycles were 2 years, not 5. Who is going to care about Avowed 2 in 2030?

Out of all game critics, Matty most closely aligns with my gaming and movie opinions. His love for and takes on Kojima and the MGS series continues the streak. I'm an outlier with Matty and others that MGS1 is the best in the series. We even specifically share the opinion that Mei Ling adds so much to the experience. I'll stop the glazing there and leave it at that. To anyone that enjoys the MGS series I recommend Max Derrat's videos about the one word themes for each game in the mainline series. Gene, Meme, Scene, Sense etc. And my quick explanation as to why MGS's stories lose their impact and gravity after MGS2. It's because stories about scenes, senses, peace, race/revenge aren't as impactful as Kojima's take on genes and memes.

I hate difficulty is part of the accessibility conversation. My older brother is paraplegic and can't move his fingers (he can move his wrists.) He can play almost everything. Beat Elden Ring, body bags people in Smash and just beat Metroid Prime 4 all on a regular controller. Difficulty isn't an accessibility issue. It's a "you're bad at games" issue

I do not understand this stanning of Avowed lmao what is happening

Glad Cog pushed back on Matty for Avowed.
