2026-01-01 23:16:38 +0000 UTCNot playing Phantom Liberty feels wrong, feels like you're robbing yourself of something incredible. Cyberpunk on its own is a masterpiece but with PL it really gets pushed over into something else. That's like playing Bloodborne without The Old Hunters, it's a certified classic without it but once you experience it you'll never play the game without it again. Or watching the extended editions of LOTR. Once you watch those the theatrical cuts are a thing of the past.

Edit: also I’m 40 and have been playing RPGs my whole life. And grew up with them. I have fond memories of falling asleep to the battle music and sounds of weapons swinging in Final Fantasy 1 because my father was huge into RPGs.

2025-12-30 21:02:44 +0000 UTCI just gotta chime in about the E33 comments of "it's not the first to do anything". Is that important? Do games have to do something different to be special? Or to be Game of the Year? All the games I can think of that have won GOTY were never the "first to do" anything. Was Elden Ring the first souls game? Was Astrobot the first platformer? Was BG3 the first CRPG? Even other massively important games in the industry weren’t the “first to do” something. World of Warcraft wasn’t the first the MMO. Fortnite wasn’t the first Battle Royal game. I don't understand the Last Stand Media hate on E33.

Cronos isn't the first to do anything it does, but for some reason it was Colin's second GOTY? Expedition is getting praise because of the marriage of all these systems, the story, the writing, etc. It doesn't need to be the first to do something to be great. I'm 32 and I've been playing RPGs my entire gaming life, and expedition is still in my top 5 favorite games of all time.

2025-12-29 17:58:42 +0000 UTCColin, the reason you're always so "haggard, tired, and shot" despite living a relatively healthy lifestyle, is your sleep schedule. Or rather, your lack of a sleep schedule. I know you seem to love this aspect of your life, and always go on about how this is how people used to operate in the old days, but trust me, it's a serious detriment to your physical and mental health. I'm not saying you need to give up being a night owl. Just try to go to bed and wake up at the same time every day. And try to get at least 7-9 hours of continuous sleep. Getting your circadian rhythm in order will do wonders for energy levels. I used to be just like you and I was always fatigued and tired because I would stay up to random hours in the night and then just wake up whenever. Getting a proper sleep schedule in place is a game changer. Sorry for the novel.
