BEHIND THE SCENES: Gris Suit

This one was really fun! I'd hoped to fit Moses in on the side here, but I couldn't make it work in this aspect ratio. He's standing just offscreen.

Clothes are one of my favorite things to draw, especially bulky utilitarian stuff. I also love the contrasts of the flashy swimsuit and the black jacket, Alexis's light and dark fur, the red patches and the cold background, etc. I'm pretty happy with this one for a few reasons. It was interesting to try to draw some color out of cloudy weather and still have it look cold.

I also really want to incorporate more backgrounds into my stuff--it's more of a time investment but I really like drawing them. So I'm dipping my toe in the water (lol) with something a little painterly here.

Alexis's original ref sheet has a line on their cheek that I honestly can't remember whether it was meant to be a facial scar or just a wrinkle, but I'm canonizing it as a scar now. Alexis gets in a lot of fights.
