Will of the Force - Non-canon Omake 3

So... I know I should have been working on the next chapter, but I couldn't resist writing this one, I hope you guys enjoy it.

Don't worry, chapter 30 will still be the next one to come. Now, back to writing!

Dark Raven stared out into the city from atop the skyscraper, the setting sun giving it a red ting that looked like blood against the old texture of the buildings, a dreadful omen of things to come.

Staring out towards the direction of Concord, she covered an eye with a metallic hand, then held her elbow with the other and laughed, her face opening up into a deranged smile as the wind blew her hair back.

Metal arms touched her shoulders, gently turning her 20 degrees to the left. “Oh, dread mistress, Concord is that way.”

Dark Raven pretended she hadn’t heard it, flicking her cape back to pull out her lightsaber and point toward the horizon.

“Come on, Dinah,” the betrayer yelled, looking up from the street. “You know they’re gonna blame me if you’re caught.”

“Traitor!” Dark Raven growled, even if her voice was a little too high for it, and then pointed her saber down. “Why Voidweaver, why? You were meant to join my team, not capture me!”

“Don’t call me that, it was one time, one!” Voidweaver said in a frustrated voice, the traitor. “I already said I was sorry! Besides, I didn’t capture you, there was no arrest!”

“It sure felt like an arrest, I’d know!”

“No, you wouldn’t!” Voidweaver snorted, crossing her arms.

“Would too!”

“Alright, enough, we’re going back!” With an effort of will, Voidweaver bent space to her will, slowly twisting the air between them in eldritch ways that gave Dinah a headache before stepped beside her.

“Wait, was that slower than before?”

“I’m… having some trouble adjusting.”

“Hmph, serves you right,” Dark Raven said, lowering her weapon, but still putting it between them. She wasn’t going back yet.

“Watch it, You wouldn’t even be here if I didn’t save you.”

“And whose fault is that? It doesn’t count as saving if you’re the one responsible for the danger in the first place.”

“Alright, fine!” Missy huffed, then finally conceded the point. “I’m sorry I tried to rescue you, forgive me?”

“No,” Dinah said, putting her sword away and taking out a mask from under her cape. “...But I can forgive Voidweaver.”

Missy stared at her for a moment, then looked down at the mask, one foot tapping on the ground. Finally, she looked around to check if there was anyone watching them. “I said I’d only do it once.”

“Join me, you know you want to,” Dark Raven tempted, shaking the mask. “How long since you last went on patrol? Together, we’ll be unbeatable!”

“Shut up… I’ll need a place to change costume.”

Vista stared down at the fight, her power slowly spreading through the street like a virus, warping the materials in strange and unexpected ways. Anchoring her modifications, she prepared the battlefield.

“I know they’re Merchants but…” Dinah shook her head as she watched the fight. “Even they should have more sense than this. Who are they fighting anyway?”

“Chariot, low-level villainous Tinker.”

“Don’t those get snatched up fast?”

“Armsmaster thinks his specialty is mobility, he’s hard to pin down.”

Vista could see why, the villain was darting around using roller skates almost as fast as a motorcycle, he wore a patched-up power suit and had a huge, missile-like backpack that looked kinda like those she saw in cartoons.

Dinah would have to take care not to hit the guy with her sword, he was far too likely to blow up if she did.

With a burst of fire, the Tinker tried to get off the ground, but Mush, in the form of a giant trash monster, used a long arm to bat him down, then Trainwreck used the chance to stomp toward the villain and try to grab him.

Rolling away, Chariot barely managed to dodge the attack, before continuing to flee.

“So, I get the Tinkers, you deal with Mush?” Asked Dinah.

Vista nodded but grimaced as she considered how to deal with the giant, her power no longer had a Mantom limit, but it was now far too deadly to use against Much. While she could sense exactly where the man was in the middle of all that trash and debris, she didn’t think she had the control to avoid him.

She could shred his limbs, but that would do little to stop the guy, he’d just grab the resulting debris again. Ugh, being non-lethal was easier when she didn’t have to worry about her power breaking people into a thousand pieces.

In the meantime, she stretched her control on the air and bent the sky so that, if Chariot tried to fly away again, he’d only end up in her trapped alleyway.

“What seems to be the problem, meatbag?” asked the creepy robot.

“I can force Much to retreat, but it’s gonna be pretty obvious it’s my power, you know?” she said with irritation. “And I’m not sure how to defeat him without killing him.”

Putting one hand under his metallic chin, the robot pretended to think about it, then opened his coat to reveal four large cannons, offering one to her. “I usually prefer the gorier option but, as that seems to be out of the question, may I suggest disintegration?”

“Wait… how? Where did you get that!” Vista growled at the robot. “And how’s that different from killing?”

“I asked Anakin,” Dinah interjected without a hint of shame.

“Again, How!? We had people watching your house 24/7!”

The creepy robot gave an electronic snort. “Please, as if some inferior meatbag could even notice me leaving. As for not killing, merely aiming for his trash will do, the pathetic man is hardly dangerous without materials to grow.”

“Now!” Dinah yelled, jumping down from the building without a care in the world.

Vista almost screamed, but her companion quickly revealed her own jetpack hidden under the cape, the device activating briefly to slow her descent just as she was about to hit the ground.

Falling on her knee, Dinah waited until her cape, now singed from the jetpack, settled around herself, then got up and turned on her laser sword while speaking in an even voice. “Surrender, vermin, your defeat is inevitable.”

Grabbing the cannon, Vista put it against her shoulder and, remembering some lessons from a PRT trooper, aimed at Mush’s leg while the villain was distracted, then she fired. Immediately, a green ball of energy shot out of the muzzle, colliding with the pile of trash in a shower of sparks before expanding to consume everything around it.

Through her power, she felt everything in a 1m radius around the impact point just turn into dust in less than a second, Mush collapsing sideways at the sudden lack of support…

“That was far too satisfying,” she sighed in frustration, but there was a smile hidden under her mask. Adjusting her aim, she used her power to shorten the distance to her target, making sure she wouldn’t miss, then fired again. “Damn Youth Guard, not letting me have a gun.”

Below her, Dinah crackled with glee and then moved with the grace of a combat Thinker, laser sword humming.

Putting one foot on top of the power armor, Dark Raven ignited her lightsaber, then cut the damaged stump of an arm completely off the metallic frame, reducing Trainwreck to an immobile ball of metal. Looking at the Tinker's face, she could see him struggling to talk, but Hal had gaged him after the third insult.

Snapping her head to the side, she got her guard up, lightsaber ready to parry a strike, but there was nothing there. Slowly, she narrowed her eyes, looking all over the street, there was something…

Releasing a breath, she forgot about it, then continued to pry the Villain out of the remains of his armor, using the lightsaber like a blowtorch to cut away the material. Behind her, Chariot was already subdued, Hal making sure he didn’t die after the guy had flown into the air, only to smash headfirst into the asphalt at full speed thanks to Voidweaver’s manipulations.

“Pity, it appears that he’ll be fine,” Adjusting his coat, Hal tapped a finger against one of his remaining blasters for a few seconds before letting the coat settle back into place.

Dinah stared at him, then towards Voidweaver as her companion made sure Mush couldn’t reform his trash golem. Something was really bothering her.

Turning off her weapon, she clasped it back on her waist and stepped away from the defeated Tinker, she wasn’t really interested in his armor anyway.

Chances that I’m forgetting something important? Ninety-eight point two three seven percent… Chances there’s someone else besides Hal and Missy with me? Ninety-eight point two three eight percent.

So, a stranger, was it another merchant? Was it Coil again?!

Chances Coil is after me again? Sixteen point two one percent.

Releasing a breath, Dinah took a few steps closer to Hal, then closed her eyes and calmed her heart, focusing on Anakin’s teachings.

Without thinking, her good hand snapped to her waist, grabbing something close to her lightsaber while her prosthetic shifted into an energy weapon, pointing straight at… she couldn’t remember what, had she missed it?

“Stranger!” she yelled, but instinct told her not to relax, or lower her guard.

“Mistress, may I suggest lowering your weapon?” Hal said in a calm voice. “While, in all honesty, I would be delighted if you accidentally fired, I do not think you’d enjoy the result.”

Slowly, she shifted her weapon back into a hand, then stared at Hal for a second longer before releasing her grip.

Pulling out one of his weapons, Hal pointed it down and sighed. “Do stop that, it was useful to test mistress progress, but now it’s just annoying.”

Dinah almost jumped when she noticed the cute girl collapsed on the ground in front of her. She was breathing hard and, despite being African-American, looked as white as a ghost, her hands shaking on the ground.

“What?” Voidweaver asked with confusion, but her canon was already halfway to her shoulder.

“She has been watching our battle for quite some time now,’ Hal said without worry. “I was wondering how long it would take for one of you to notice, well-done mistress.”

“Yo-you remember that?” The girl asked with a breathless voice.

Hal tapped against his head. “I don’t believe your power works on electronics, one of the many ways I’m superior to you meatbags.”

“What did you just say?” Voidweaver asked him in confusion.

“Who’re you talking to?” Dark Raven asked, then glared at the girl when she remembered. “Stop that!”

“Sorry!” The girl said. “I can’t fucking control it very well, alright!”

“Wait, I remember you!” Voidweaver said, finally lowering her weapon.

“Yeah, thanks for the save, by the way,” the girl said, finally managing to calm down. “But holy shit, who knew you moonlighted as a villain.”

“I am NOT a villain, I’m a vigilante at best.”

The girl lifted an eyebrow, going over her entire body with a look. “Sure looks like a villain, what with the demonic mask and everything.”

“I hate to interrupt, but it seems the authorities are approaching,” Hal said, lifting a large pile of loot onto his back.

“Come on, we can drop this at master’s place,” Dinah said, dropping her Dark Raven persona. “I think he still keeps some ice cream there.”

“Errr… I think I’m gonna pass,” the girl said, looking away from them as if she was gonna run.

Missy huffed and glared at Dinah. “And you wonder why people thought you needed rescue.”

“Sithspit, I meant like martial artists, you know?” Dinah huffed, adjusting her cape. “As in, master and apprentice, not slave!”

“You sure he’s not… you know?” Missy asked, her voice a little shaky.

“Yeah… He’s definitely still angry,” Dinah said, seeing her friend wince and start fidgeting. “Don’t worry, I’m sure he’ll forgive you if you apologize, he’s softer than my father.”

Pulling out yet another weapon from under his coat, Hal shot all three subdued villains once, their bodies collapsing bonelessly after being hit.

“I said no killing!” Missy yelled, turning her disruptor cannon towards the robot.

“Shit!” the girl said as she stumbled back, then pretended to be calm. “Th-that’s hardcore, I thought you guys were sparing them?”

“It’s a stunner!” Dinah shouted, pushing the barrel of the cannon up and away from Hal.

The droid simply holstered the pistol, not paying any mind to the dangerous weapon pointed his way, then started climbing the side of a building like a spider.

All three teens stopped, the silence stretching between them for a little while as they traded glances. Finally, the new girl broke it. “So, about that ice cream…”

Anakin used the Force to turn off the faucet, then pulled the cookie sheet out of the oven, putting it on top of the stove to cool down.

“I take it the youngling is visiting again?” Obi-Wan asked from his place on the sofa. “You know, it’s not good to spoil her too much.”

“Indeed,” Anakin said but continued to pour the dough for the next sheet, then he noticed the second Force Ghost. “What’s he doing here?”

“Something amusing, I sense, many stories to tell the new padawan, I have. Will of the Force, it is.”

Comments

Well, it's been quite a while... Is this still active?

Steelheart

Hey, any news on the next chapter? Not trying to rush you, I prefer quality over quantity.

Steelheart

Are they light side cookies (chocolate chips) or dark side (raisin)?

Christian E. Y.

I absolutely want this to be a kind of mental construct.

Justin Archibald

Can we all just accept that this is great and make it canon. Mom vader is the best.

countfork

lol. I’d read it

Nine

‘And thus the Skywalker saga ends. Not with a bang not with a whimper, but with a small unregulated Airbnb in another dimension.’ XD

Mac-something

Honestly, Yoda in Worm would be hilarious. “What’s up with this cracked out Case 53 goblinoid?”
