Robbie Sprite Redesign v3
Added 2025-08-21 21:45:01 +0000 UTCHello everyone! I know it must be a bit worrisome to hear that we are changing another character's appearance. But we are a game in active development and are constantly changing and altering things to make the best game we can make.
While working on v0.14, which is very Robbie-focused, I noticed some quirks about his sprite that I wanted to address. Because of his hidden eye, his exposed eye was quite big, which sort of fit with our old sprite style, but not our new style. Something else I noticed was that this skewed how the face was drawn, so his mouth and nose are off-center. Also, his hair wasn't as high-quality and didn't match the style of the more recent sprites.
So we first just wanted to adjust his mouth until realizing he needed a bit of a revamp. We did 3 or 4 internal revisions before landing on this one!
Kokman did an amazing job revamping not only Robbie's hair but also his expressions. The old expressions were outdated and still had a painterly quality, whereas we now have a cleaner style. His eyes were reduced in size to fit the other sprites.
But let us know what you think! The fun of making this game with your support is that you get to help guide the direction of the game.
We're still working hard on everything, but I wanted you all to get a look at Robbie's new sprite and see how everyone felt.
