Hot Dog (1930)

I am beyond thrilled to share that we’ve acquired a 35mm print for ‘Hot Dog’ which marks the very first appearance of ‘Bimbo’! Not only is it known for being his first appearance but it’s also worth noting that this is the first Fleischer cartoon to implement ‘cel animation’! Previously the Fleischer’s were using the ‘slash and tear’ paper technique.

We were first told by Paramount that only a 16mm copy of the film existed but a couple months back, they found a 35mm print for us to use! I can’t wait to get this one on the big screen!

in the circulating print, there seems to be a splice when bimbo is singing St. Louis Blues. is this present in this copy?

Yessss. If 35mm elements can be found and scanned for every Talkartoon, I'll be a happy guy. Seems doable, right? (Except maybe In the Shade Of the Old Apple Sauce)
