From Arnie:
What a month. Had a great time in DC and Philly for some live shows. Spent a bit more time in Philly. Great to catch up with some friends along the way but also just fun to spend some time with Matt and Adal. Thanks to everyone that came out to either of the shows.
The most important thing to mention from August was that Adal sent me two nice texts one to tell me that he watched Challengers and enjoyed it very much. And then the second text was to say that he liked Big Night even more. You, dear reader, if you have never seen either of these movies I implore you to do so… especially Big Night which is an all-timer!
At work, Party Pack 11 production is wrapping up and I’m already tinkering with some exciting stuff for next year.

From Matt:
August 2025
We did a show in Washington, DC and Philadelphia this month. Both were super fun. I highly recommend joining us for the next live shows in Richmond and Charlotte: https://hellofromthemagictavern.com/live-shows (and hopefully more soon!).
I really like these new show-specific shirts over on Dashery from the DC and Philly shows: https://hellofromthemagictavern.dashery.com/. I think they’re good even if you weren’t there.
Just finished moving a few hours ago. Had movers come last week, but it just took us a while to really get it all together and out of the old place. Home is dead. Long live home! Now I have about 48 hours before I have to figure out where my microphone is or it’s going to be a “Usidore lives in a box to say non-sequiturs" episode I record this week.
Gundam Report: Finished Gundam: Seed. I watched a lot of it while packing to move, but still…what a piece of crap. My least favorite so far.
While we were on tour, Adal, Arnie, and I saw Weapons. It was really fun. I’m sure the other guys will be effusive about it, so I’ll say, as a non-horror fan, I enjoyed it immensely.
It’s almost fall. Stay warm or cool as is appropriate and take good care of yourselves and each other.
Matt
From Adal:
Here’s what I was up to in August. Let me know if you have any recommendations for me!
TV:
Peacemaker season 2
Squid Games season 3
Back to the Frontier
Hard Knocks: Buffalo Bills
MOVIES:
Big Night - Ok whoa. Whoa whoa whoa. How did I miss this movie in life? Tooch and Shaloub acting together in a film about food? Upon one viewing this is already in my top 15 all-time movies. Ian Holm is peppering in some of the most comically genius moments I’ve ever seen. This from Bilbo Baggins?! There’s several frames from this I want to just hang up in my home. Please watch this if you haven’t seen it and please thank Arnie for bringing it into my life.
Weapons - Just outstanding. One of the most fun theater going experiences I’ve ever had. This will be the number one Halloween costume this year I think.
Challengers - Also outstanding. Arnie rec’d me some bangers. I don’t think I’ll miss anything this director puts out from now on.
Lilo & Stitch - I had never seen this and Jemma insisted we put it on. Way funnier than I would have guessed and a really sweet ending/message. It took me about an hour to realize my favorite voice in the movie was Kevin McDonald.
Billy Joel: And So It Goes
OTHER:
The Magic Tavern live shows in D.C. & Philly were a goddamn blast! Thank you to everyone who came to the shows and all the wonderfully kind folks we met during the Meet n’ Greets! I’m pumped for Charlotte and Richmond coming up. I’ve never been to Virginia so if anyone has some Richmond must do’s I would love some tips! Otherwise I’ll just rewatch the Jon Gabrus tv show that had an episode about it.
Hey Riddle Riddle has upcoming live shows in Atlanta, Nashville, Denver, Philadelphia, Washington D.C., Boston and New York. You can find all info and tickets HERE
I picked up a Switch 2 (thank you Paul!) but haven’t had time to play the new Donkey Kong. Very very excited for that. Let me know if you have any recs for indie games that are out/coming out that are worth a purchase!
I was lucky enough to catch the Oasis reunion at Soldier Field this past week which was pretty special. I am of the mind that Liam is the last true remaining rock star for better or worse.
My new podcast Gumshoes & Dragons released episode 2 (with Rekha Shankar) and episode 3 (with Janet Varney); if you’re looking for something new to check out!
It’s almost time to put up my 100 foot skeleton!!

I don’t know where to post this, I can’t get onto Discord for some reason, but I’m at the doctor’s office waiting to pick up my husband from a procedure and I swear I just saw Matt Young on a TV ad for a marvel game?? Can anyone confirm this? I tried googling the ad and can’t find it, but it was very surreal seeing one of my favorite people in this very depressing waiting room!

2025-10-09 13:27:19 +0000 UTCOh good Adal you saw the correct version of Lilo & Stitch. I never saw Big Night either! Ian Holm was in it?? I wonder if that's why he was cast as Chef Skinner in Ratatouille.
