Reflecting on Recent Feedback

Let's look over the results of the recent voting polls (so far). SubscribeStar was not included in these polls due to the smaller user base, but these results will be shared with Subscribers, who can contribute to the conversation, as I plan to run both platforms similarly.

These polls allow me to better understand you so that, moving forward, I can build a Patreon experience that works for you, me, and the jackwipes who actually work at the company.

#1 - Conditions of your Pledge

I have to admit, I'm a little skeptical of these results. However, most of you seem content to support me simply for the sake of doing so and do not rely on a specific reward.

That basically means I can do whatever I want and you'll continue to support me - like only promising ONE illustration every week to fund via Patreon, leaving me free to create what I want beyond the scope of, and completely not funded by, Patreon during my own time.

Whatever I do, these results suggest you're fine with giving me complete freedom (provided that I'm not exploiting you as consumers). If you lied when voting, then it's your own fault!

#2 - Content Specifications

Many patrons are fine with me creating less content if it resulted in more time to focus on comics. Though only half of those patrons actually want stories, which leads me to think that you don't have a preference for comics but also do not mind comics (or you're being weird). Either way, that is time I can technically use to create more important artwork.

Surprisingly, a large number of you want Elayne Beaumont content.

25 out of 85 patrons (29%) want comics & stories.
52 out of 85 patrons (60%) are fine with me slowing down to focus on comics.
52 out of 85 patrons (60%) are fine with me sharing art publicly instead of pay-walling it.
53 out of 85 patrons (62%) will support even if their favourite content isn't funded by Patreon.

#3 - Potential Plan

I suggested this concept: Patreon will only fund the creation of a weekly illustration (such as Female Link Friday), giving me the freedom to create what I want outside of Patreon's scope.

None of my patrons disapprove of this plan, though some people did not vote to approve OR disapprove - leading me to believe these patrons don't care either way. This follows the logic of the first poll, suggesting many of you do not care so much about reward specifics as long as your support helps me to create cool art.

58 out of 66 patrons (87%) approve.
43 out of 66 patrons (65%) don't need to be promised any specific amount of art.
66 out of 66 patrons (100%) do not feel uncomfortable with being promised one weekly art.
02 out of 02 patrons (100%) who just want things to stay the same still approve of this plan.

#4 - Content Preferences

Most of you enjoy both NSFW & SFW content, but many of you prefer NSFW (unsurprisingly). That means I shouldn't go too long without providing you with some kind of erotic artwork.

That is a slight concern if I choose to focus on Female Link Friday as the main project, as I do want to create plenty of authentic illustrations instead of only erotic Female Links. So, in order to prevent disappointment, I must not go too long without creating NSFW art.

With that in mind, such artworks might sometimes fall outside the scope of our Patreon main project, and will thus not be funded by Patreon. They might be personal art I make for myself that I MIGHT share with you, but do not promise - unless implied otherwise, such as through voting polls or specific projects officially backed by patrons.

Additionally, many of you prefer art that tells a story. That means I should create less pinups that provide no additional value (i.e. art of a single character standing on a white background) and spend more time creating art with interesting concepts. Slowing down to focus on larger projects & weekly illustrations will provide more time to create interesting artwork.

Although variants is a less popular option, they do have a few benefits: they allow illustrations to live a little longer before being moved on from, allow us to bring back older illustrations via edits, and allow us to turn safe-for-work content into NSFW content over time. You can see a recent example of this for a specific piece in the Dropbox (05 May 2024 & 10 October 2024).

63 out of 79 patrons (79%) like both erotic & safe-for-work content equally.
28 out of 79 patrons (35%) prefer erotic content.
43 out of 79 patrons (54%) prefer artwork that tells a story.
23 out of 79 patrons (29%) enjoy content with additional variants.

#5 - Subject Matter

These results make sense, though I'm surprised to see Elayne Beaumont so high up. It makes sense that many of my older characters, like Herocia, are much less notable - but I am aware some of you might really enjoy seeing content of those characters, so I included them.

If I create any content that can not be shared on Patreon, it will not be funded by Patreon. I'll have to create it as personal artwork completely beyond the official scope of your support. I repeat this fact multiple times to ensure it is properly communicated to all parties involved.

51 out of 81 patrons (62%) enjoy general pinup content.
51 out of 81 patrons (62%) enjoy art with a sense of adventure.
39 out of 81 patrons (48%) enjoy artwork that evokes emotion.
45 out of 81 patrons (55%) are absolute filthy degenerates.

#6 - Projects You'd Enjoy

Unsurprisingly, most patrons prefer NSFW one-shot comics, akin to my Dragon Breast & Mimic's Trap comics. Most other options beyond this are evenly matched, though interests align more towards Elayne Beaumont Comics, Zelda Comics, and Female Link Friday. The latter being the safest "main project" for multiple reasons.

The Mimic's Trap could not be funded by or shared on Patreon due to its subject matter, so keep that in mind if I ever work on similar projects in the future. In which case, I may need to create those works for myself and I'll need free time away from responsibility on Patreon. This is another reason why shifting our focus towards "one promised illustration a week" is ideal.

Though most of these are projects that I'd work on outside of the scope of Patreon, I would probably share some of them here - but they're just bonus content NOT funded by Patreon, even if they're completely safe-for-work. Probably.

I definitely want to finish the Beaumont Game in 2025, so I expect I'll focus on that for a bit.

Anyway, these are the conclusions I have arrived upon from these polls. I've yet to commit to a specific plan for 2025, but these provide me with useful information. If you have anything else you wish to contribute, or even ideas for new voting polls to aid this matter, share your input in the comments below.

I am sincere in being here to support your art and work, but I do understand the skepticism. Polling can have... issues to manage even for people who run them professionally. Even with anonymity people will tend to err on the side of making themselves look better, for our own egos or because we don't totally trust anything is truly anonymous. I do hope people are far more sincere than not in these answers, though. I'd much rather see what you create under less pressure - the "suffering artist" thing is bullshit. Even from a self-interested perspective, you being unable to continue just guarantees I get none of what I like out of you.
