QUESTIONS POST FOR MARCH 2024!

Hey everyone! I apologize for letting it get so late in the month without an update, but I just haven't been able to organize a podcast this month.

I'm really sorry to do this again so soon. But for now I'll just be doing a QA for early April (gotta prioritize getting the StarTropics video finished before March ends)

So leave any questions you have for me below and I'll answer them all!

Comments

What do you think about the PS2 Platformer Trio and which do you prefer? (Ratchet & Clank, Jak and Daxter, and Sly Cooper)

1MoreSonicRobot

Steve Urkel or Brady?

Dezrosiar

I noticed the chibi-robo music in one of your recent videos, I'd love to hear your thoughts on that series as well as it's spiritual predecessors and siblings (Moon, Chulip, Contact, the Tingle games, etc.) They're some of my favorite games and I rarely see discussion of them.

Queen Bungus

I do have a question but some praise and all that real quick! StarTropics is such a cool video and I loved your video about it. It was on my backlog since the Wii days, I probably heard about it in some ScrewAttack video, bought it on the Wii and I finally played it in 2022. Through the Wii U version because it has save states and I figured that this would be a game that might benefit from the occasional save state. Not as a way of cheesing fights but as a way of setting up more convenient checkpoints. At times the game did test my patience but I was left with a really nice feeling regardless. Anyways, ten years! Congrats! The first video of yours I saw was your Yo-kai Watch response video, which admittingly is a weird piece to get introduced with considering it's not that similar to your other work. I'm not even a Yo-kai Watch guy, never played the games, but I liked your defense of the game. I haven't watch that video since but it was the video that got me to subscribe. I was getting tired of a lot of the discussion about video games happening on YouTube and you seemed liked a breath of fresh air. Now, my question! You've been doing this long enough where I think you can give a decent answer to this question but I want to word it very specifically. At what point did you really get a grasp of what you wanted your reviews to be like and when you felt like you were able to execute them properly. Was there a specific video or was it a moment? Like between your first Ty review and your new Ty review, when did everything start to click? Following the answer to the question, post that episode or moment which do you think is your weakest video? And on the flip-side, before that episode or moment what do you think is your strongest video? I feel like if I just ask "what's your worst/best video" it'll be easy to point to pick an early episode and a later video, which isn't as interesting, so that's why I'm phrasing it so specifically. Regardless, congrats once again! All the best and all that!

Lukas but also known as Foxmosis how long can the name be

I loved the startropics video! it surprised me alot, because some of its game design reminds me of dark souls (luring players with goodies, only to send them to their death) and also a bit of binding of isaac (moving around in a room strategically inbetween shots, also the diagonal curve of the shots achieved by moving). I wonder if startropics somehow influenced these games. that would be fun

Sundreas

this is a insane question

Sundreas

would you be open to using hair loss products ? it would suck to lose THE nitrorad hairdo. its the equivalent to avgn losing the glasses or the nostalgia critic withouth a hat imo

Eetu Aho

What do you think of the older GARANIKOR Videos? (6 years and older) Do you still consider them funny?

Robloxhater64

My favorite game is SpongeBob Battle for Bikini Bottom and I have realized all the things you tend to criticize in Platformers are part of that game. Fake wall jumping, most forgiving double jump ever, no movement abilities unless we count glitches and I was wondering if you have played the game and how much those issue due tend to affect your enjoyment of 3D Platformers

Ethendor Reviews

What are your favorite card games that are included in other games? So like Tetra Master in FF9, Joustus in Shovel Knight, etc.

Aaron (Super Pod Saga)

Ever play Alisa? Ps1 style horror game on steam/switch, looks pretty good! Also, what are your favorite bands or genre of music?

Adam

Hi James, Hi Brady. Do either of you believe in ghosts, and if so have any instances where you might have encountered a ghost?

Epic Gamer 2507

Aside from making the videos about the video games, have you ever wanted to branch off or experiment with other things relating to art? (aside from garanikor of course)

alex

Hello! First time asking a question, so hopefully this isn't a repeat, but I wanted to ask about your experience withe the Medabots series as a fellow fan. Have you played the games? Or is your experience more with the anime like me?

Justin Montana

Are their any genres that you want to explore more of in the future? I know you've talked about playing Elden Ring, but are there other JRPGs you're interested in? Might I suggest Threads of Fate for the PS1 or the entire Ys series, particularly 8 or 9 since each is it's own story and feature good Platforming? Also, thank you for doing what you do, you're one of the very few youtubers I watch now and it really brightens my day!

Waffle House Rugal

hey james! do you think youd ever start listing the music used/linking to a pastebin or something with music used in your vids? some of the tracks you throw in are proper bangers and id love to be able to find and listen to em :D

gomotion

I've heard you mention the 2003 Teen Titans, but have you ever tried the GameCube/PS2 game? From what I remember, the gameplay is a pretty boring beat 'em up, but the story is strangely interesting right at the very end.

AmpleSamuel

What is your stance on RPGmaker projects as of now, and is there one you still enjoy profoundly?

Nut With Potential

Do you guys have you games you wish were a thing but they just never happened? Like for me I wish we got a ps1/n64 dragon ball 3D Platformer were you play as lil goku and go out and collect the dragon balls lol. Anyways Idk if that makes sense but ye, bologna

Chris Reid

To add to this: What species of ant lol

Cat wearing crocs

Things you watched/played/read/listened to as a kid/teen you look back on like "Yikes..,".

Cat wearing crocs

What it do boys. Have you heard of/played Cry of Fear? It's a game I feel could go both ways for James. Brady keep on being Brady.

Turkeyham

What's your favorite genre of horror? (i.e. lovecraft, slasher, alien invasion, etc)

Chowder

I was recently reminded of the fact that I used to create Gmod maps for my friends when I was younger, and that got me thinking (actual question past this point) Is there any game out there that you personally think would benefit with the addition of a level creator?

Canalman

Howdy, Currently playing my first ever import game Last Window. Do you think the Hyde games could get remakes similar to Another Code/Trace Memory? And how would you want them to modernize and improve the experience

Davidson Doliver

Question for both: Why do you think people are far more accepting of game remakes than they are with movie remake.

Hailzfire

Heyo! Do you got some favourite Board or Games?

Hamun Agah

would you rather fight 10,000 ant sized Metal Gear REX's or 1 Metal Gear REX sized ant?

AquaticPixel

Have you ever tried out project 06? And if it resonated with you would you consider a video on it? As someone that got so much out of even the original sonic 06, your April fools video was funny but I feel missed talking about the reason people have fond memories of the game. (and I figure you might have changed in the 8 years since then)

Natalie Schneider

Have you ever played the Ace Attorney series and would you ever consider making a video on it at all?

Motor Drive

Ya ever just play rayman arena?

Dyllburg

Hey yall, I just recently got a Steam Deck. What games should I check out?

Haru

Have you ever heard of a console from the early 2000’s called the V. Smile? If yes do you have any thoughts or memories of it? If not then you can skip this question.

Moralis

Hey guys, what are your favorite video game composers. If you don't have or know any then what are your favorite soundtracks in video games?

NickieTheFool

Have you ever had to kick a bad habit like smoking? if so what helped you stop?

IfyoucanseethisI'mbeingheldagainstmywill

Here's an hard one, what's your favourite biscuit (or cookie in American) and how long does it take for you to finish a packet after you buy it?

Blupore

Hello there, I am a new fella, (not a fart smella) and I've been an off-and-on YouTube subscriber that has only now ventured into shooting a Patreon subscription. I am a shrimple man, dare I even say, a octopinion haver, what route has most often given you so many indie gems? The amount of recommendations by your videos alone has made a creative out of me. A few other questions to the boys, what musical OSTs have hit the hardest for you in terms of memorability, and have you been checking out any books recently? I suggest If on a Winter's Night a Traveler, pretty weird one. Tha's all! Take your time, I only smell gold with each upload.

Struan

To James, while editting the podcasts, did you ever considering taking a clip from one question (either a funny one, interesting one, or one you're been asked alot) and uploading it to youtube, twitter, bluesky etc.? It might be especially helpful if you upload it as a short since youtube pushes those ALOT Brady, can you fix Patreon so hitting enter doesnt send the comment and instead adds an empty line? Thank you. Also the "if you could have any power, what would it be?" Question again but you CANT answer it in a way that just gives you every power or lets you do anything. Assume it just has some drawback that limits its use so its 'balanced.' I cant police every answer so please dont try to just work around it. To Brandon, what are you even doing back here? I thought it was just the one podcast

Bladebrent

Hello there! I'm a more recent subscriber, so I'd like to say thanks for you being you, James! I've loved watching your videos ever since I saw your first video on the...Yomawari series, I believe- it has been a while, so I can't remember. But anyway, I was wondering if you knew about any kind of amazing or great indie or obscure title that you haven't covered in any of your videos? Not just popular, but insanely obscure or indie? I'd like to hear about some good ones to look out for. Thanks!

Typo Light

What has been your favorite thing about getting into PC Gaming ever since you bought a Steam Deck?

BeeboSceebo

I’m glad to catch one of these again. This is for either of you guys, what do you tell yourself when you feel like you’re done trying? I’ve been in a deep slump all year and I’m curious to hear what you guys do to lift yourselves up, thanks guys.

Oscar Rodriguez

Hi James and Brady! I was wondering if either of you had ever watched Letterkenny and if so, do you have any thoughts about it?

Larkison

Hey dudes, hope all is well! My question for now is if you were in charge of a nearly completely overhauled remake of a game of your choosing, what is something you would make sure remained completely untouched? Much love, take care fellas!

Mojo Lecrowe

Hello 🎷ames and ⛄️rady, sadly very much a james question this time. What do you think was the catalyst for the more charitable and less antagonistic approach you take towards things like jank in games? After all your years on youtube, it doesn't really feel like general opinions on games have gotten more multidimensional. It's easy for me to blame of social media culture and metacritic just putting things on a "bad-good" binary scale. However, what do you think drives your method of analysis less towards "bad-good" and more just a conversation between the game and the player?

Only For Sana

What's your opinion of the Kung Fu Panda franchise?

up wakay

If you could make a platformer mascot of any animal what animal would you choose and why?

Jared Purchase

Favorite Rareware games? I don’t believe I hear you talk about them in depth, especially not donkey Kong unless it’s 64. Would like to hear more fleshed out thoughts on what makes/if the games fun.

Gelatinous Chunk

Hey James & Brady! If you had to choose a character to eat breakfast with who would it be? (It can be from a video game, TV show, Movie, Book, etc)

Local Smores Pop Tart

What are your thoughts on the Dish Poutine and is it actually a big ass deal in Canada?

Lasaga

repurposing an old question im still curious about: i remember reading a couple reviews about signalis after your video on it dropped, and apparently the inventory system is kind of contentious among certain fans? which surprises me, obviously youve made your thoughts on the subject clear in your own video, but it makes me curious! are there any other big contentious mechanics you see a lot of people complain about in any given game that you feel very positively about? hard mode: no survival horror

hay

Do ya like any Studio Ghibli movies? I get a very Nintendo feeling from them.

AwshomeHat

Hey there, just wondering if you've ever heard of or played a 3D platformer called "The Upturned" ? Im specifically asking because i thought its a pretty amazing hidden gem with a horror theme to it with some luigis mansion vibes sprinkled into it which sounds like it would be right up your alley :)

Jansify

What are the best narrative games you ever played?

Timothy Ripka

fav movies list perhaps?

Span Ish

Any thoughts on ARGs being playable games? At the start this game "Shipwrecked 64" got released and it was essentially a platformer horror game that required some ARG elements, such as using material outside the game to solve puzzles, I found it really neat, though I still think there's room for improvement.

TheNameIsX

How are you today ? :)
