Why Harvard is being sued....
Added 2019-05-09 01:30:59 +0000 UTCTamara Lanier is suing Harvard University for ownership of a 169-year-old photo that she claims shows her enslaved ancestor, Renty. Her lawsuit may not simply be about that photo, however, because as her lawyer notes, it would be the “first time that descendants of African slaves in America have been compensated” by an American institution – unless Georgetown University beats this lawsuit to the punch.
