Trainer Class: Rock Star Ash

Trainer Class Rock Star Ash

Chapter 3 Ash Catches a Pokemon!

The golden Pokemon flew off into the distance, a rainbow shining in it’s wake. It flapped it’s wings and a pretty feather fell from the sky. Ash picked it up. “Whoa…” He tucked it into his vest.

“Oh man!” Goh groaned. The amp was destroyed. “Ash...it…”

Ketchum just laughed. “It’s okay, we made it out of the situation. That’s more important.” He patted Goh’s head.

Goh had protected everything else, the other instruments were kept safe. They made it through the worst of it, but now they were stuck in the Wild Area, a dangerous zone full of both rare and powerful Pokemon. Not a place for beginners.

Toxel rode on Ash’s shoulders, while Grookey searched from the trees. With a bit of time, they figured what direction they needed to go. “Great which way are we going?” Goh asked.

Ash smiled. “Grookey!”

“Groo!” The little monkey mon, tossed up the stick and let it spin in the air and land, pointing in one direction.

“That way!” Goh’s jaw dropped.

‘Is this safe…’ He was worried.

Ash was ready to move out. Goh stayed close.

The terrain was as wild as it’s name, easy for Pokemon, but for two boys it was a trek. Ash kept them moving, at a decent pace but Ash was keeping their safety in mind. Goh needed to stop, now and then, to catch his breath.

During their breaks they spotted several powerful Pokemon. A Vileplume, a Victreebel, a Dugtrio, even a Nidoking.

Goh’s excitement continued building until he decided to try his original catching plan. He threw a ball at Nidoking, it didn’t even jiggle, only popped open. “King!” The poison type roared.

They were chased again. “You really are something Goh!” Ash said with a laugh as the boy screamed next to him. Toxel and Grookey were clinging to Ash’s shoulders as they ran.

“I’m sorry…” He wailed. His excitement making him forget about the Spearow incident.

Nidoking chased them all the way towards a rocky cliff. “A dead end!” Goh screamed.

“Not exactly.” Ash smirked. He grabbed their stuff, strapping it to his back, he then scooped Goh up and carried him bridal style. The boy blushed.

Ketchum surged up the wall, jumping with impressive strength from ridge to ridge. It all happened so fast Nidoking slammed into the wall, his jaw dropping watching his prey escape up the wall.

They made it out, but Ash was exhausted, the adrenaline wearing off. “Woo…” His stomach grumbled.

“I’ll go get us some food.” Goh said, he was feeling guilty. He found some berries, holding them with his shirt, catching some notice of a yellow pokemon.

They ate, enjoying some berries. Ash observed various Pokemon, a small heard of Tauros run across the field. A Lapras swam along a river. Goh wanted to catch it, but as he activated the ball, he looked down and put it away.

The boy sat down, holding his knees to his chest. Ash patted his shoulder. “There are other ways of catching Pokemon.” Goh pouted.

He’d see soon enough.

An unusual pair came out, a Kangaskhan was walking around with a Pikachu. The two were like brothers. The Kangaskhan’s mother had raised them both together, the Pikachu as a little Pichu, her love and the bond between them both helped them both evolve. Kangakid’s evolved into Kangaskhan, they were not officially in the Pokedex because the Kid’s were often not raised away from the mother or father.

“Pika Pika chu!” Pikachu bellowed, pointing at them.

“Kanga!” The two approached.

Apparently Goh had taken berries from their territory. The two challenged them. Ash smirked. “Oi!” He sang, his voice radiating with intensity. “You two are really unique, if you wanna battle you’ll face me!”

Ash stepped up calling out Grookey and Toxel. “With a two on two battle, you battle two on two.” He turned his hat around, his move when he wore a hat on his shows when he entered the final ballad. “Let’s rock!”

Pikachu was confused, but they agreed to fight.

Goh pulled out his Pokedex.

Kangaskhan, the Parent Pokemon, a Normal Type. Raises its young in its belly pouch. The infant rarely ventures out of its parent’s protective pouch until it is 3 years old. It won’t run from any fight to protect its young. They can often be seen sleeping standing up. If you come across a Kangakid playing by itself you must never disturb it or attempt to catch it. The patent will become extremely violent and enraged at you, it’ll hunt you down until it’s baby is returned.

Goh visibly paled. Typically most Kangaskhan in packs are female. Males are rare and tend to venture off alone caring for young or abandoned pokemon. Not much is known about male Kangaskhan since so few are captured and raised.

He scanned the Pikachu next. Pikachu, the Mouse Pokemon, an Electric type. A popular pokemon found in different regions. When several of these Pokemon gather, their electricity could build and cause lightning storms. It keeps its tail raised to monitor its surroundings, its tail sometimes gets struck by lightning in this pose. If you yank on its tail it will shock you and bite you. It stores electricity in its cheeks, zapping an enemy if it is attacked. Highly intelligent, this pokemon roasts hard berries with electricity to make them tender enough to eat.

Both were pack Pokemon, and yet they were together. “I can feel it, the melody, this is it!” Ash took a stance. “Watch Goh!”

The battle was on. “Toxel use Nuzzel on Kangaskhan, Grookey, use Branch Poke on Pikachu!” The battle started and Grookey’s ability activated creating a field of energy. They charged in, but something strange happened.

Pikachu vanished.

Kangaskhan moved at increased Speed, ATK, SP ATK, DEF, and SP DEF. “What is that, I’ve never seen a Kangaskhan move that fast!” Goh exclaimed.

“I knew it, I can feel it in my bones. You both are something special.” Sure enough Pikachu was hiding in Kangaskhan’s pouch.

This male Kangaskhan had the move Commander, which allowed him to command other pokemon of a certain size into his pouch. When being ridden it gained a boost. Pikachu couldn’t be targeted and Kangaskhan was suped up.

The Nuzzle didn’t do much damage but the damage wasn’t the only thing important. Kangaskhan got paralyzed. “Let’s pump it up then, Toxel use Acid and Grookey use Branch Poke.” They both attacked, not doing much damage, in fact thanks to the Grassy Terrain Kangaskhan healed.

‘What is he doing?’ Goh wondered.

“Watch closely!” Ash said.

The Paralysis had done more than slow Kangaskhan down, it locked him up so he couldn’t counter attack. Pikachu was worried but his bro felt he could handle it still, all he needed was two good hits to put them down.

Toxel’s Acid had caused DEF drops, slowly weakening Kangaskhan. His boost faded, and slowly went into the negative. Grookey’s physical attacks began doing more damage, more than the Grassy Terrain could heal.

Ash kept things up, focusing on hit and run tactics. They weren’t dealing with wild pokemon, but a trainer with a plan, with a rhythm. Kangaskhan couldn’t land a hit, and his defenses depleted.

Ash changed chords having Toxel focus on using Nuzzle which increased the chances of Kangaskhan being fully paralyzed, while having Grookey unleash Growl, slowly dropping his ATK. His boosts fell, all he had was physical attacks.

Pound, Stomp, Fake Out, and Double Hit. His Double Hit was something unique, where he’d land one hit, and Pikachu would spring out of the pouch for a second hit. Toxel took the hit, took damage, but hung in there and ate a berry. “Nice, Toxel, use Belch!”

He did, blasting the Kangaskhan back, even with his boost to Special Defense he took a lot of damage. Toxel got healing from the field as well as the berry. The loss in his ATK stat saved him.

The two double teamed Kangaskhan knocking him out and forcing Pikachu to “eject”. Pikachu was mad, shocked, and worried about his bro. Pikachu lashed out, but his Thundershock wasn’t super effective on either of them. He took a couple of Acid and a few Branch Pokes and he was down for the count. “I won’t separate you two, you both can come with me.”

Ash readied two monster balls. He threw them both with show time precision catching them both at the same time. Jiggle...Jiggle...Jiggle...Ping!

“Two for one!” Goh gasped.

“I caught a Pokemon!” Ash declared.

He called out his friends and gave them some berries. “Come on lets be friends.” Pikachu was a bit miffed.

Kangaskhan nudged him. The normal type could feel it, there was something about this trainer, something he liked. “You both did great, I can tell you’ve got an amazing bond!” Ash praised. “I tell ya what, I think you both would be perfect for Contests!” He declared.

“Not battles?” Goh was surprised.

“Perhaps, but we’ll have to see.”

Goh did have a wake up call, battles really did help catching Pokemon, Status Effects, Stat Changes, could weaken Pokemon without harming them too much. He called out his Bulbasaur. “Will you help me with completing my living dex?” He asked.

Bulbasaur nodded and nuzzled him. “Saur saur!” He was waiting for Goh to ask for his help.

With the help of Kangaskhan they found their way out of the wild area and made it to Route 21.

To be continued...Route 21 and Viridian City!

Goh tries to use some Battle techniques to catch Pokemon on Route 21 as they make their way to Viridian City. Ash finds another Pokemon, he thought he was catching a Nidoran Female but actually caught a Shiny Nidoran M. At Viridian City Ash gets his amp replaced, insurance covered the replacement but next time it’ll be a big deal and they relax at a Pokemon Center.
