Ash Gets Buggy Chapter 2

Pocket Monster parody: Tier 1

Chapter 1

Chapter 2 Ash vs Trip 6 v 6

Joltik was also a free spirit, and liked hanging out of his ball. He was tiny so he was able to chill on Ash’s hat, or somewhere on his person. It didn’t bother Ketchum any.

The group continued on their way to Ash’s second gym battle, but news of a local Battle Club in Luxuria Town, had Ash eager to train and battle. “What a battle freak!” Iris complained. Her kid comments weren’t hitting as hard especially with Ash learning she’s just a newbie herself.

Don George welcomed them and brought them to kiosk, where all the local trainers were registered. Ash was already looking for trainers to battle. He registered using his Pokedex, so the mons he had on hand were loaded into the system.

Cilan and Iris catch up. “Where does he get all this energy!?” The greenette pants.

“It’s Trip!” Ash exclaimed.

“Are you looking to battle?” Don George asked.

“Sure am!” The man nodded.

“I like your spirit, how would you like an Xtranceiver?” Don George showed Ash the watch-like device. It reminded Ash of the Poketchs in Sinnoh. “It helps trainers keep in touch, and it helps the Battle Clubs organize matches easier.” They could even be customized.

Ash was given a blue one. “This is pretty cool!” With this he could even contact Professor Juniper. Don George showed him the Battle Pager app, which would respond when a trainer looking to battle was nearby. Trainers could then exchange X-Numbers to keep in touch.

His number was 69-69

Don George called Trip to let him know he had a challenger. Cilan remembered Trip he had defeated Cress to earn his Trio Badge. Iris didn’t know who Trip was, and got annoyed at being out of the loop.

Trip showed up, but wasn’t too enthusiastic about battling Ash again. “Why should I battle you again, when your Pikachu lost to my Snivy with no experience.”

“Pika!”

“Jol, Jol!” Pikachu was annoyed, and Joltik didn’t like Trip’s attitude.

Ash defended his buddy. “Pikachu wasn’t at his best that day, he had been struck by Zekrom, so his body was off and he couldn’t use his Electric Attacks!” He spoke of one of Unova’s legendary Pokemon so easily it was shocking.

Cilan was shocked to hear this, by even Iris confirmed that Zekrom had appeared.

“Using a legendary Pokemon as an excuse for your loss, that’s pretty pathetic!” Trip shrugged. “But what can I expect from some nobody trainer from the boonies.”

Ash smirked at Trip. “Let’s have a battle and I’ll show you what kind of trainer I am!”

“Maybe...it may be worth fighting you if we have a full 6 v 6 battle.” Trip said. “Do you even have six pokemon?”

Ash nodded. “It’s a deal, I’ve caught a lot of pokemon since then.” He showed off his latest pokemon, Joltik.

“Does that even count as a full Pokemon? Are You really gonna fight me with that puny thing.” Joltik buzzed in annoyance.

“We’ll see if they are any good!” Don George prepared a room for them to fight in. “I’m shocked to see you willing to fight me after your loss.”

“This’ll be good experience for my Pokemon for when we take on our second gym badge!”

“You only have one badge?” Trip chuckled and showed off he had two badges already.

Ash smiled. “Well, only one Unova badge, I’ve faced many gyms before now!” Trip shook off Ash’s words and acted like he didn’t care but he should have. He was treating Ash like a rookie and he wasn’t. As he was about to see.

Don George served as a ref. “I’ll start things off Tranquil come on out!” He called out Pidove’s evolved form.

“Pikachu let’s show him your true ability!” Pikachu jumped out.

“Going for the type advantage huh, not that I have anything to worry about. Tranquill use Quick Attack.” Tranquill glowed and zoomed forward hitting Pikachu hard and knocking him back.

“Pikachu use Thunderbolt!” Ash called.

“Oh please, Tranquill use Aerial Ace!” The Flying type charged forward only to get blasted by a super effective Thunderbolt. “So your Pikachu can use Electric moves after all, no matter Tranquill get it!”

Tranquill surged forth and hit Pikachu hard. “That looked like it hurt!” Cilan commented.

“But how, Pikachu is an Electric type, how did a flying type move do so much damage?” Iris asked.

Trip smirked. “That’s easy, it’s called Super Luck, my Tranquill’s ability, it lets it land critical hits more easily.”

“You should be more careful Trip, my Pikachu has its own ability.” Ash said, and Trip looked up and saw his monster was suffering from Paralysis.

“But how!?”

“My Pikachu’s ability is Static, landing physical blows on him can leave our opponent’s paralyzed.” He called for a Quick Attack next, and Trip tried to have Tranquill counter with it’s own Quick Attack, but it was paralyzed and unable to move.

Pikachu hit hard and knocked Tranquill down. “Follow it up with Iron Tail!” He moved fast and hit Tranquill and sent him flying.

“Come on Tranquill use Aerial Ace one more time!”

“Pikachu use Volt Tackle!” The two monsters collided, and even with the recoil damage Pikachu was left standing.

“Tranquill is unable to battle Pikachu wins!” Ash and Joltik cheered.

“See that Trip, my Pikachu is pretty awesome huh?”

“Do all trainers from Kanto get excited over one little victory?” Trip mocked. “Let’s see how you handle my next Pokemon.”

He called out Servine, Snivy’s evolved form. “Wow, so your Snivy evolved.” He called Pikachu back. “Snivy I choose you!”

“So you got a Snivy too huh, pretty ballsy to send them up against my Servine.”

“We got this, right Snivy?”

“Sni vy vy!” She was raring to go.

Cilan was a bit worried. Trip had defeated Cress with his Snivy, and he could tell that its grown even stronger since then.

“Use Cut, let’s go!” Trip called and Servine charged at Snivy.

“Dodge it Snivy, show ‘em your grace!” Sure enough Snivy spun and dodged Servine’s attack.

“What was that? Use Cut again!” Servine kept trying to attack Snivy, only for the smaller Pokemon to gracefully dodge him over and over. ‘What are those movements?’

“Use Attract!” She winked, sending hearts flying and Servine got enamored.

“Snivy knows Attract? Darn it use Leaf Tornado!” Servine heard the command but did nothing. He was immobilized by love!

Snivy was able to wail on him with Vine Whip and Leaf Blade. With her Leaf Blade she did a spin before hitting, building up the power to land a stronger blow. Servine fell before Trip knew what hit him.

Don George called the match in Ash’s favor.

He could have recalled Servine but all his Pokemon were boys. “Leave it to a trainer from the boonies to rely on Attract.”

Cilan stroked his chin. Trip was way off the mark, Snivy and Ash waited, focusing on dodging Servine’s attacks to wear down his energy. He also recalled Pikachu knowing he had taken quite a bit of damage from Tranquill.

“Let’s see how Snivy handles this, Litwick come on out!” Ash was surprised to see a ghost pokemon.

Dexter: Litwick, a Ghost and Fire type. Litwick shines a light that absorbs life energy from people and pokemon, which becomes the fuel that it burns. Wild Litwick tend to be mischievous pretending to lead travelers in the dark but also take them the long way around as to feed off their energy longer.

“What do you say Snivy?” It wasn’t the best type match up, but Snivy was in.

“This’ll be quick, Litwick use Ember!” The candle monster fired flames from the top of his head.

“Dodge it Snivy with Vine Whip!” She used her vines to propel herself and dodge the flames. Trip called for another Ember. “Snivy Spin and Dodge, while using Vine Whip!”

Trip could only watch as Snivy dodged the attack, spinning out of the way of the flames, as the vines whipped out and struck Litwick as she passed. She was like a ballerina and the vines served as her mighty legs to deliver a kick.

“Enough of this Litwick use Will O Wisp!” Litwick conjured the ghostly flames and hit Snivy with them, causing her to be burned.

“Snivy use Leaf Blade!” She tried to hit, but along with the move not being super effective, the burn had cut her attack power down. “Use Attract!”

“Litwick finish her off with Hex!” Litwick unleashed a ghostly aura that hit Snivy hard and did double damage.

“No Snivy!” She fainted.

“Hex is a tricky ghost type move, it deals double damage when the target is afflicted with a status condition.” Cilan explained.

Don George called the match in Trip’s favor.

“You did great Snivy, have a good rest!” Considering Trip thought this would have been an easy match Snivy gave him a lot of trouble. More trouble than he thought, and more trouble than he’d admit. “Oshawott I choose you!”

The water type hit the field. “Don’t think type advantage will save you Ash! Litwick use Will O Wisp!”

“Oshawott, spin and use Water Gun!” Oshawott obeyed, doing another weird move that shook Trip. He spun while using Water Gun performing the Counter Shield, the spray knocked away the Will O Wisp and Litwick got pelted by the attack and knocked around.

The Fire and Ghost type was caught off guard, getting hit by super effective damage. “Now Oshawott use Razor Shell!” He stopped spinning and Litwick sank in the air. Oshawott cut him down and he fainted.

“Litwick is unable to battle, Oshawott is the winner.” The water type flexed and posed, eating up his victory.

Trip recalled Litwick. ‘This ends now!’ He called out Frillish!

The ghost and water type was rather intimidating, even freaking out Oshawott. “Oshawott return!” Ash called back the otter-like monster. “You’re up Joltik!”

“Jol jol!” The little bug came out.

“Frillish, let’s chew them up and spit them out!” Frillish chuckled in a sinister way. Joltik wasn’t phased.

“Joltik use Electroweb!”

“Protect!” Trip called for the move and a defensive aura encased Frillish. The super effective move was blocked. “Now use Water Pulse!”

“Dodge it and use Thunder Wave!” Frillish launched an orb of water at Joltik but the tiny bug managed to evade it. He shot out some blue electricity energy which zapped Frillish leaving him paralyzed.

“Not paralysis again!” Trip groaned.

Ash called for Bug Bite and Trip called for Water Pulse. Frillish worked through the paralysis and hit Joltik with the water move, it wasn’t very effective. Joltik shook it off. “Keep going Joltik show him your Bug Bite!”

“Jol!” He built up the power in his fangs, the energy building up more and more until he managed to manifest fangs of bug energy around himself.

“What the heck!” Joltik slammed into Frillish doing a lot of damage, but also triggering Cursed Body. “I don’t know what that was but you won’t be using that again.”

What it was, was Super Bug Bite, something he learned from watching Dawn and Piplup, building up the energy of a move and channeling it in a different way. They pulled it off with Bug Bite, it’s just a shame it got disabled so they couldn’t do it again.

Hitting Frillish with a direct attack triggers his ability which disables the move used on it. “Don’t worry Joltik use Absorb!” Red energy shot from him and it hit Frillish for super effective damage. The energy turned green and it drained his energy and helped recover Joltik’s.

“Use Night Shade!” Nope, his monster couldn’t move because of Paralysis.

Joltik was able to use Absorb again and recover more of his energy. “Use Protect!” Frillish tried to erect his shield but it didn’t work.

“Use Electroweb!” Joltik spun electric webbing and made a net for the ghost fish. ZAP! It was super effective and Frillish fainted. “You were awesome Joltik!”

Cilan could see clearly that Trip was underestimating Ash. He kept seeing Ash’s Pokemon as weak and the boy pathetic. He was being blinded by his ego and pride. He was down to his last two pokemon while Ketchum had only lost one of his. Two of which haven’t even battled yet.

Trip’s next Pokemon was Timbur, his most recent catch. Ash switched out Joltik for Tepig. “Bulk Up!” Timbur flexed and lifted his wood as a red aura surrounded him, increasing his power and defense.

“Tepig use Flame Charge!” The move hit and Tepig got a speed boost, but Timbur didn’t take a lot of damage.

“Bulk Up again!” Timbur pumped his wood and flexed again boosting his defense and power.

Tepig hit him with another Flame Charge, but it did less damage then before, it did increase his speed. “Tepig hit him with Flame Charge one more time!” This time Tepig out sped Timbur and hit him hard.

It didn’t matter as the Fighting type tanked the hit. “Use Rock Smash!” Wham! Tepig was hit hard and at point blank range dealing a lot of damage.

“Tep...ig…” He fainted.

“Tepid is unable to battle Timbur is the winner.”

Ash returned Tepig. “It’s okay buddy you did great, we’ll keep training and getting stronger.”

Oshawott came out of his ball, it was clear he wanted payback. “Wott wott Oshawott!”

“Alright, let’s do this buddy!”

“You sure you wanna send in that pipsqueak, my Timbur’s already got two Bulk Up’s under his belt?”

“It’ll be fine, Oshawott use Water Gun!”

“Timbur block it!” He used his wood to block the Water Gun. “See pathetic!”

“Oshawott spin and use Water Gun!” Oshawott spun on his back, whipping water gun streams round and round.

Timbur tried to block it, but as Ash and Oshawott learned from their battle with Cilan, relying on a block can be costly. Timbur’s wood was knocked out of his hand, and he panicked.

“Grab it!” Trip called.

Oshawott didn’t hold back, catching him with Razor Shell. The battle wasn’t over, but Timbur’s focus was getting his wood back. Oshawott was able to land a critical hit with Water Gun and the fighting type was knocked out.

Trip’s last Pokemon was Patrat, who went up against Ash’s Pidove. Ketchum had full advantage and with Pidove learning the spin dodge, Patrat couldn’t land a hit. Pidove won and with that this battle went to Ash.

The Unova trainer was shaken, he had thought Ash was some loser from the boonies, but he just got wrecked in a 6 v 6, with Ash only losing two Pokemon. “So...am I worth your time now?”

Trip took a picture of Ash, he had been taking pictures of the match off and on. “I’ll learn from this, you won’t beat me next time.” He left to get his Pokemon treated at the Center.

“What a kid, he was acting all cocky and now sulks when he loses.” Iris said.

“Trip, I’ll look forward to next time.” Ash called out to him.

Don George was inspired by the match and offered Ash tutoring for some of his Pokemon. He felt Icy Wind would be perfect for Oshawott as it’d help provide coverage and lowers the speed of the opponent. He also wished to teach Tepig Will O Wisp, it was a handy move, and could help cripple the opponent’s power.

Ash agreed and the special training began. The two would learn their new moves, but Ketchum was already thinking of how to take them to the next level.
