What's the deal with Seinfeld?

It's finally done.

What's the deal with Seinfeld?

I see your break from pop culture was well worth it, I really enjoyed your first effort back in this area!

Regarding race, the moment that always gets me is from "The Chinese Woman" (not just because I'm half-Chinese), where Jerry says, "I like the Chinese," Elaine asks, "Isn't that a little racist," and then Jerry replies, "If I like them...how can that be racist." At this point, the audience applauds, demonstrating that the audience, and the show itself, are on Jerry's side. Generally, the show played into racial, gay, and abelist stereotypes quite a lot, but it also had several side characters who happened to share those identities, so it's kind of muddled, when it comes to representation. Compared to Friends, it's very diverse, and I'd say even a bit to the left of Friends on the representation front, but it still hasn't aged all that well in a lot of cases. That said, a lot of it is still quite funny. I remember thinking that "The Peurto Rican Day" episode COULD have been a decent finale itself, if the holiday was something that actually should be made fun of, like a holiday for cops or something. The format was a hybrid of the stuck-in-one-place high concept some of the early episodes had, like "The Chinese Restaurant" or "The Parking Garage," but with the frenetic pace and multiple storylines of the later seasons (I was in high school when the show ended, so when I watched new episodes--circa seasons 6-9, I'd analyze the show and compare the scene counts of early seasons to later seasons, and the early seasons had a scene count in the teens, while the later seasons would have more like 30 scenes).
