GammaOS Next v1.2.0 is now live for the Anbernic RG406H and RG406V, bringing both devices into the Android 14 / LineageOS 21 era with shaders, shiny new audio toys, and a proper docked “mini console” experience. 🚀

Fresh off the RG476H drop, it’s time for the 406H and 406V to join the party. 🥳
This update takes everything you liked from the original T820 GammaOS builds and upgrades it to a more modern, smoother, and more customizable Android 14 base.

⚖️ Lite vs Full on RG406H / RG406V

Same philosophy as the RG476H release:

• Full

  • Includes Google Play Store, Google Play Services, and Google-dependent apps

  • Ideal if you live inside the Play Store, sync with Google, or need specific GMS-only apps

• Lite

  • No Google services, no Play Store

  • Ideal if you prefer a clean, self-contained handheld that uses sideloading or alternative stores

All the fun bits (shaders, GammaEQ UI, HDMI docking, performance modes, input features, etc.) are present in both editions. Lite vs Full is mostly about how “Google-heavy” you want your device to be.

🧭 Installation

Install flow is the same as the other T820 devices and the RG476H:

1. Download the correct v1.2.0 build for your device (RG406H or RG406V) from the links above.

2. Use 7-Zip on Windows to extract all .7z.00x parts into one folder.

3. Follow the T820-family install guide for detailed flashing steps (RG556 / RG-CUBE / RG406H / RG406V / RG476H / RG Slide):

As always, flashing will wipe user data, so make sure you’ve backed up anything important first. 💾
