Added 2025-12-09 00:36:18 +0000 UTCGammaOS Next v1.2.0 is now available for the Anbernic RG476H, bringing it into the Android 14 / LineageOS 21 era with a smoother, more modern, console-like experience.
Hey everyone,
I’m happy to share GammaOS Next v1.2.0 for the RG476H. This is a dedicated Android 14 build tailored for this device, with new display and audio features, a better docked experience, and the full GammaOS quality-of-life stack you’ve seen on the T820 family.

💥 What’s new in v1.2.0 for RG476H?
v1.2.0 is more than a maintenance bump. Highlights for this device:
Android 14 / LineageOS 21 base for a more modern, responsive system stack
Global BFI (Black Frame Insertion) integrated into the display pipeline for improved motion clarity on supported refresh setups
GammaEQ with a fully integrated UI, so you can manage audio presets and tuning directly from the app (no more property-only workflows)
HDMI Docking Mode: when connected to HDMI, the internal screen powers down and the system resizes to the external display’s resolution for a proper docked “console” mode
Global Shader Pipeline with CRT-Simple + LCD3x, configurable via a Shader Quick Settings tile
Immersive mode enabled by default for a clean fullscreen gaming experience
🎮 GammaOS features on RG476H
On top of that, you get the full GammaOS handheld stack adapted to this hardware:
Daijisho launcher + RetroArch integration for a console-style front-end (BIOS not included)
Universal button remapping and analog stick calibration (range + deadzone)
DC dimming emulation to reduce perceived PWM flicker on supporting panels
GammaRGB LED sync support where applicable
Deep Sleep Mode (cgroup freeze) for aggressive standby savings
Performance modes (Max / Normal / Power Save) and a rich set of GammaOS Quick Settings tiles
Magisk root pre-integrated for those who want deeper customization
⚖️ Lite vs Full on RG476H
Both editions are available so you can choose how “Google-heavy” you want the system to be:
Full
Includes Google Play Services, Play Store, and Google-dependent components
Suitable if you rely on Google account sync and Play Store app delivery
Lite
Ships without Google services or Play Store
Suited to users who prefer a minimal, self-contained handheld environment and alternative app distribution (sideloading, third-party stores)
The core GammaOS functionality (performance modes, shaders, GammaEQ, HDMI docking, input features, etc.) is present in both editions.
🧭 Installation
The flashing flow follows the same pattern as the T820 family:
Download the RG476H v1.2.0 package from the release page above.
Extract all .7z.00x parts together using 7-Zip on Windows.
Follow the install guide here (same tooling/process as RG556 / RG-CUBE / RG406H / RG406V):
https://github.com/TheGammaSqueeze/GammaOSNext/wiki/GammaOS-Next-Installation#anbernic-rg556--rg-cube--rg406h--rg406v
As always, make sure you’ve backed up anything important before flashing.
🙏 Thank you
Thank you for supporting GammaOS on Patreon and helping push these handhelds further than stock ever intended. I’m keen to hear how v1.2.0 runs on your RG476H: BFI, GammaEQ UI, HDMI docking, shaders, and your experiences across Lite vs Full.
Enjoy the new build and happy gaming.

After a few days of setting up my device to my liking and comparing to other devices in my collection, I have to say a big thank you! I had no idea that I needed the convenience of quick swapping the ABXY, and instant shader settings to save time and get back to actually gaming instead of tweaking settings. All of the instant options are very convenient and keep me in game rather than stuck in menus. I look forward to your work moving ahead and can't thank you enough for your meticulous attention to detail and facilitation of convenience and function!

2026-01-10 22:34:07 +0000 UTCI have a question, the installation instructions Visual Studio C++ 2005 is required, the issue is that it is no longer available for download from Microsoft. Will I be able to proceed without it?

2026-01-08 02:12:17 +0000 UTCEverything seems to be working well except I cannot get Azahar to work whatsoever. Crashes everytime I launch a gave. Used to work find on the stock RG476H firmware.

2026-01-08 02:09:55 +0000 UTCI prefer es-de over daijisho, because I'm satisfied with using es-de on my PC. But apart from that, gamma os next is very promising.

2025-12-27 23:00:31 +0000 UTCHey Gamma love your stuff! I have a question though. I get lots of micro stutters in the 476h screen. It seems Retroarch doesn't request the wanted refresh rate to Android, so your screen will always be on max refresh rate or whatever you have set it to in Android settings, because Rertroarch is not communicating anything to Android. So it will just stay on whatever setting it is. But it doesn't automatically switch to the wanted refresh rate. This basically makes Vsync not work as most games run around 60fps which is too far off from 120hz to do screen syncing and is causing all kinds of stutter. Also, if you set it to match the screen refresh rate that doesn’t seem to work either. I think because the screen overshoots to almost 60.5 Hz but I’m not sure. Any ideas?
