patreon

Move patreon stories to the web?

Since the Rain and Shine game along with the interactives are being hosted on my webpage I've been thinking about putting the stories on there too, that way I can put one link down for each of the content-oriented tiers ($3 short stores, $5 novels, $10 games/interactives) at the beginning of the month and as more content is added on the site it will be easily accessible through the link.

The upsides:

- More easily organized files:  Now instead of having to download the story to read it off of patreon you can just access it in your web browser and read it there.

- Patreon-scraping deterrent:  Every month the link folder changes, which means that if the content gets scraped then my content is exposed for about a month.

- Easier patreon searching:  With the advent of videos coming (which means more rewards, yay!) the patreon is getting rather... full.  If the others patreons that I'm a part of are any indicator I update at least 3 - 5x more then usual and that will only increase with the videos.  This way as I mentioned it's just one easy link post at the beginning of the month and good to go.

- Increased patreon independence

The downside:

- Less announcements of new material:  While the Rain and Shine update will be likely posted here other projects will have to be announced manually, and while that can happen it also defeats the purpose of less posts in the first place.  I may do a weekly update or something to help counteract that, but we'll see.

So that's about it, what do you think about the new system being implimented?  Comment below and let me know, even if you just think it's great/terrible!

Agree that it is a good idea.

Two thoughts: 1) Viewing an HTML based story on an Apple device is waaaay easier when it's on the web, and 2) WordPress has a Patreon integration module which looks pretty neat: https://wordpress.org/plugins/patreon-connect/

I think it's a great plan! As patreon can be difficult to find stories, seeing them online in the Sabredrone archives would be amazing!

Glad to hear! And yeah, with that organization part you can just click the link to where you want to go and the stories will be there with their little descriptions and tags, no storage necessary! :D
