This episode had a huge rework in terms of how I got from point A to point B. Let's talk about it!
When I made the drafts back in late 2019 I didn't fully understand my own characters dynamics toward each other. All I knew was I wanted Mel feeling a certain way by the end of the scenario, so that it would make Mel introduce Cassidy the way that she does.
When it finally came to working on this episode I realized what I had originally roughed out didn't align with the characters, now that I had a better understanding of them.
So what was once a very surface-level interaction to get Mel (and a little bit of Cassidy) jealous, turned into one with more insight into a lot of inner workings of how the characters feel about things! We see Mel getting interrupted and pushed to the side, probably just one of many reasons why Micah annoys her so. We get Nola showing a little bit of her insecurity about her powers.
AND MOST IMPORTANTLY
it became a scene with more Mel and Micah interaction ohoho~ π₯°π
SPEAKING OF ADDING THINGS
This next chapter coming up on Early Access was not part of my original draft, but it was very much needed. When you read it, I'm sure you'll agree πβ¨
Those bg drafts are very rough explorations of where they are so they might look a little different in the actual pages, but Cassidy looks very excited about it all! πβ¨
This was a little longer of a brain dump post about my process but thank you for reading it, and I hope you enjoyed ππππ
