🌿 Little Human Rituals // Monthly Thread // July

Hello my lovely moonkips~!

I’ve been thinking a lot about how easy it is to drift. Especially now. The world’s loud, capitalism’s hungry, and AI’s becoming the newest tool used to isolate us from one another under the illusion of connection. And while I’m always interested in seeing how new technology plays out, I also feel a tug. A human tug.

So I’ve started water painting again among other things. Nothing fancy, just color and brush and some doodling. I used to love it. Then life got sharp, and I dropped it for years. But I’m picking it back up because it helps me find peace again, makes me feel somewhat normal when Im unraveling at the seams, and it brings me back to the moment instead of worrying and crashing out or worse, going totally numb. It's self regulation in a world that needs a fuck ton of it.

Plus its freaking COLORS and COLORS ARE AMAZING OKI! ^-,^

And I want to start sharing that every month here with you, my little personal creation corner, and invite you to do the same.

Whatever your human rituals are, whatever nonsense or brilliance you create to stay soft or sane, I want to see. I want us to see each other.

So whether you:

crochet in silence,

paint Warhammer minis with the focus of a god,

go go-karting with your best friend on your day off,

hit a perfect trick shot in Apex and screamed like a demon,

made a cool cosplay outfit,

built a shelf,

sketched a tattoo,

danced in your living room to the same song three times in a row,

I invite you to share it below. Show me. Show us.

This thread is a little rebellion against the disconnect we're seeing in the world. Against the slow flattening of our weird little selves.

I think its time we go back to some actual softness. We make things. We care about things.

Let this be our soft proof of humanity.

I’ll go first. 🖌️

Oh I didnt see an email for this comment so sorry I'm late! Yeah, its weird how hobbies just kind of fall off and you might never pick them back up again, that's too sad, definitely gotta go back and pick them up and carry them forward! ^-^ Ooh do you have a youtube channel for your videogame-y music? :o

Haha yeah! I have always liked HHG, read it so many years ago but found myself thinking "Well the AI of today is nothing like Marvin" lmao and so yeah haha xD Oh wow, do you ever record your guitar practice? :O OMG YOU DRILLED A HOLE IN YOUR FINGER? ARE YOU OK? O_O Oooh Elfquest, what kind of quest do they go on? O_< WHA really, I love books/teachers that give context, I never knew cutting veggies a certain way made them absorb flavor differently, thats wild! Eee I'm so glad you like the new stuff. I'm excited folks enjoy the large catalog, it stands like a diary of sorts. I can track how I'm doing by what kind of content I can put out and the recent audios have been such big passions and I'm so excited and I really hope that bleeds through! Eee~! I hope your finger gets better! Take it easy and don't work too hard while you heal up! ♥

octopus-san got outta the tank and is now eating the copy of hitchhiker's guide? bwa!! here's ..a.. nice copy of.. uhhh.. biography of frank lloyd wright? eat this instead and put down the douglas adams.. heehee i read this the other day and thought "what a cool idea!" and then went back to practicing guitar.. working on a really nice version of "in other words/ fly me to the moo".. today i drilled a hole in my finger at work, and practicing guitar isn't on the agenda for the near future.. perfect time to scribble a note to Moon~ i love it here! i'm thrilled that i found this and feel sooo lucky to help out, even in a small capacity.. i'd send you a million if i had it to send~ currently reading elfquest by wendy&richard pini.. old school graphic novel i found at the local indy bookshop.. just finished "starter villain" by j. scalzi (hilarious~) and "service model" by a. tchaikovsky (also hilarious~) dystopian fiction definitely helps with the existential angst that permeates the days? so i'm working my way through a chinese cookbook, called "the key to chinese cooking" by irene kuo.. it's all the coolest recipes for all of the dishes that everyone loves, with lessons on why it's important to chop the veggies this way and not that way.. they absorb flavor differently? it's amazing, and i (usually..) love the scents that are floating out of the kitchen ..so thank you for having me over! i'm in love with all the new stuff that you're working on, but happily scooting my way through the library of back-catalog stuffs~ your work is amaaazing.. you have an exceptionally good voice for this.. an exceptionally diverse range of emotions and inflections.. all made better by the awesome work you do to bring scripts and characters to life. thank you, Moon~ i know it can't be easy, but you make/help it seem effortless.. the mark of a true artist~

Always good to see others hanging in there despite how crazy everything is! I've been trying my best to get back into all my hobbies lately, even the more obscure ones, but the two main ones I've been focusing on recently are creating music (mainly videogame-y stuff) and hypnosis (been interested in it since the 4th grade, but didn't really put theory to practice until college 😅)
