This may feel like it's coming out of nowhere but I'm happy to announce today that from this point on I'll be working with GW to continue Astartes and transition the project to an official one with the Warhammer Animations team.
Many of you have no doubt been wondering what the status of the project is lately, but work on it has never stopped and now it's at a very exciting place, with everything I've been able to create and develop up to this point now transitioning to an official project where I hope to take it to new heights.
I can't thank you all enough for the support and opportunity to pursue both my 40k and animation dreams. When I threw that first episode up on the internet I had no idea it would take me here, and it wouldn't have without your amazing support and encouragement to keep going and so I'm truly grateful.
I just hope I can make you all proud with my future contributions to the 40k universe we all love.
Astartes will have a new home over at the Warhammer Community website so head over there to watch the existing series and for more news and exciting updates.
This Patreon page will cut ties with Warhammer and the Astartes project. It will be overhauled to represent me personally as an artist and it will be put into an 'inactive' mode and perhaps re-awoken in the future, if I get the chance I'd love to let some original ideas that are bouncing around in my head out into the world...but right now it's time to animate the Emperor's Chosen!

They've already made you take your videos down from YouTube and edited the audio. Removing those videos from YouTube won't help introduce new people to the WH40K universe or to your creations. I hope that you haven't made the proverbial deal with the devil here. It wasn't just your masterful editing and animation that made the Astartes series so great; it was the unique alterations, at once an improvement and an homage. I hope that you don't let them compromise your vision or your creativity, because you deserve better than that, and I for one was excited to finally see the 40K universe pried from their crushing grip (not to be melodramatic).

On the one side i'm happy for you if this is what you wanted. Working with an official team. I mean, money wise this must have paid off already long ago, looking at the patreon numbers alone. However, i also hope that you still have full creative freedom on what you are working on. I'm a little worried that might not be the case now that you are working for GW. Also it's a little sad to see how you handled this patreon page. The last update was on November 1st and since then you left everyone supporting you in the dark and now the patreon page will become something else (for the most part remain inactive as i understand). Also it sucks that we can't watch any of the videos anymore (here/youtube). Only in abysmal quality over on the WHCommunity thing, actually at the moment i can't watch them at all, i just get this: "The video is bad or in a format that cannot be played on your browser" Since this is most likely the last update: thank you so much for all the work and effort you put into creating those amazing videos. Also regarding the lower quality, yeah its limited to 1080p, hopefully they will wake up and have the higher quality and better streaming when the actual releases start coming out.

I sincerely hope this gives you the financial and personal support you need to keep working on these amazing videos, but if this is the downgrade in quality we are going to get due to Gameworks I am not sure it is a good thing.

They've already lowered the standard of your incredible creation, so I assume they talked you into this all at the end of a long, sharp stick. If you end up happy, then good, but I can't imagine that under GW. You're too promising a well of talent to be leashed, and you have/had your very own independent, enthusiastic paying audience. I remember being blown away when I first saw Astartes and loved following your subsequent releases. I hope you can continue producing content at the same level of artistry that you did in the past. However, I (and I’ve seen similar comments showing I’m not the only one) am a bit concerned by this new partnership. One of the joys of Astartes is that it was fan supported and accessible to any viewer on Youtube. It was a great gift to the community, and I’m sure helped bring a lot more new fans who had never heard of the IP. Removing all your videos from Youtube and having them only accessible on GameWorks platform is…disappointing. Also, GameWorks has decided to meddle with the original videos with their sound design and there is a noticeable drop in quality. If this is an indication of what is to come, then this news is bittersweet. It is quite the accomplishment for you to be recognized officially, but I’d like to think it was already an accomplishment to be so wholeheartedly supported by the community both in views and donations. I hope I’m proven wrong by future videos released but I can only wait and see. I’ll be cancelling my Patreon subscription since there is no need now, but best of luck in your new chapter! (Sorry for the novel guys, but I just wanted to share my thoughts)

On one hand I am extremely happy he's getting the recognition he deserves and potentially even the resources to go farther and higher with his projects. However, watching the videos on the community channel, where they (not sure if it was GW or the OC) inserted different music that kind of ruins the atmosphere and original grim dark appeal of the originals while also being locked at 1080p really worries me. I sure hope we end up with an Ikkit Claw kind of story (minus him being completely discarded in age of sigmar) where the OC gains what he needs to bring 40k into a new age of amazing animation, instead of getting crushed under clawed boot as GW' very questionable business practices consumes yet another talented artist. Best of luck all the same, but I just can't help but be concerned.

Indeed people gave you collectively 20k/month, thinking that you could afford time, food and so on with it to keep focusing on your next project, when maybe you were already on the move with GW. So yeah, waiting 4 months for an update to find out that the true aim of this patreon is gone feels a bit underwhelming. But nevertheless, i am sure your future will be bright !

What makes it worse is, you hear the old music underneath with the new music on top.
