2019

In the summer of 2017, I was asked to participate in a Dorian art book by two amazing people that I now consider friends. That art book, Fortitudo, went on to raise well over 20,000 USD for two LGBT charities, and was one of the best decisions I have ever made. I got to be a part of something so much bigger than myself, and use my art for a very important cause. I learned a lot about myself as an artist, and I made so many new friends while also getting to work alongside my best friend on the project. I am so proud of everyone for what we achieved.

I think doing the art book was what gave me enough confidence to really start working on my story again. I cannot fully explain how good it felt to finally know my character's faces. I knew some of their personalities already, the role they would play, but putting a face to it changed everything. I can visualize how they move now, what they sound like, the little mannerisms they might have. It gave me enough confidence to keep going, and some days that is all I can ask for.

With 16 characters, drawing their heads alone took 3 months, so attaching bodies to them and then clothing each will take twice as long. After that, I need to design the diseased and the alternate outfits for everyone else. I have been drawing the animals for the story too, and I want to work my way up to items, then backgrounds, small scenes and eventually, comic pages in the style of film screenshots. I can't get ahead of myself though, one step at a time. I'm happy I even got this far.

In 2018 I also opened a patreon for a second time, and all I can say is thank you. Not only for the support, but your encouragement and excitement, especially on things like my story. I have trouble finding the words to express how much it means. I promise to give back by helping and teaching others, and also by continuing to create and learn.

Cheers to the New Year. 🥂
