Since Camilla and Marion are both characters based off of Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood paintings, it seemed only fitting to use Waterhouse as inspiration for a painting.
This is just a rough WIP of it, and I probably won't be able to work on it until I get back from my trip, but I really wanted to share what I have so far! I used two Waterhouse paintings as reference ('La Belle Dame sans Merci' and 'Lamia') but I need to change mine a little more so it isn't too similar to either of them. I don't want to steal his ideas, just paint after him. I might keep doing this for my story as a way to study the Masters alongside copies. I think it would be really fun, and it would give my characters that fairytale/vintage feeling I keep working towards.

One thing I have realized about myself is that I could never do full realism, because I love breaking the frame of my paintings too much. I can't decide if I want Camilla's polearm to break the border though, because it might be too long. I also need to lighten the background around her so the black armor stands out more!
Have a mini Camilla and Freya:

SIDE NOTE: Camilla and Marion's ship name accidentally ended up being 'Carion', and I can't tell you happy that made my creepy little heart. They were meant to be. 🖤
