My favorite artists are very important to me.
I talk about them all the time because I have so much respect for what they did/do, and the hard work it took to get them there. They comfort me on the bad days, and motivate me to keep practicing on the good ones. Many of them have inspired the aesthetic of my story and characters for years.
Some other honorable mentions: Takehiko Inoue, John William Waterhouse, J.C. Leyendecker and Gian Lorenzo Bernini.
They remind me of the reasons why I wanted to be an artist in the first place. Never let them discourage you, instead let them help and be an inspiration.

I know for a fact that my best friend has played a HUGE part in who I am today, not just the art I create. I love surrounding myself with people that encourage me, and I try to do the same for them. This doesn't have to be a competition! We are all in this together.
