"The Witch of Haunt Wood Mines" Split Release Sept/Oct.Preview 1

Hey Folks, I have done a lot but have a lot left to do, I expect to have the whole thing blocked out by the end of the month. "The Haunt Wood Mines"  will be about twice the size of the "Haunt Wood Scriptorium" and will offer a nice bookend to the end of our 3rd year on Patreon!  I'll describe my asset list below along with what is coming, feel free to make comments and suggestions for items, as October is still open for options. Was hoping to get it out in a month but my list got wwwaaayyy too big in a short time. The concept here is a recently abandoned mine, maybe only a few years. I'm trying for a set that can function as a new ruin or a poorly kept working site.

Witch House: A-Frame with two towers. This could optionally be a foreman house I suppose. This is from a collaboration with Mike Disney, We had talked about me doing a Witch House for his award winning Reaper-Mini "The Over-Gourd." He recently sent me some quick sketches and I picked out a 2 tower a-frame. It was an engineering challenge to be sure but a supper fun and risky build that has a more adventurous look than usual I think. Next month I'll add a mini-plateau for it with a kitchen and jail. Make requests for witch/hag/demon scatter! Model is test printing now!

The Plateau: This is a 32 part plateau that will have an optional ground level mine entrance. How big is it? Lets just say that the Scriptorium Plateau will fit entirely on top of it!

Miners Barracks: After the witch house I had to come up with something wild looking for the Miners Barracks! This features a large sleeping room, watch tower (that can look over the mine entrance), and Granary that can double as a second watch tower or sniper nest:). Should have this one test printing in a couple days. Have to add a walk way between the tower and granary plus a couple more things.

Two Story Mine Elevator: Right now it is just blocked, hopefully will be somewhat functional with string. Obviously very large but about actually a realistic scale. If you haven't ever checked out that salt mine in poland you should check it out!

Mountains: Planning on a series of mountain rocks. they will all be between 16-24 inches long with first level caves and ledges for ambushes. Will also produce a landslide gorge road next month maybe 4 sections. Probably going to put out 4 each month. will do solid variants on these as well.

Other UPCOMING in sept or oct

Large Barn: To keep all the beasts of burden

Witch House Scatter (open for suggestions)

Mining scatter:(open for suggestions) but I plan on underground water removal system and non-functioning elevator platforms for sure.

Guard House/Toll :Something to guard the entrance that can be used other places.

Persian Windmill. While I don't do Persian environments I'm going to shove their windmill into my northern European style fantasy realm. I think they are just super creepy awesome! Plan on inside versions for grinding and water removal at this point.

A single 28mm Miniature. Starting to mess with a witch/demon character based on an old heritage demon miniature. Mostly just getting scale down, and having some fun. I had quit doing miniatures about the time I actually started to get a handle on 3d modeling and even then it was 52-54mm scale. Honestly I can't even call it skilled labor, considering the aggressive mark making and offset scaling you have to do to get things to print well at 28mm. Mostly I've learned why other mini designers cheat up to 32 but I'm going to stick tight to the reaper heroic 28mm proportions and see how it goes.

Magnet Mine style walls for squad combat. Our dungeon wall set has been one of our hottest sellers so I'm going to add a set of mine styled walls. These are walls for quickly setting up an underground area that does not require exterior walls or a modeled ground. Ideal for games like Frostgrave.

Wide Style wooden Mining tracks: want to finish our wide style mining tracks and carts. This is really the semi truck of horse powered mining tracks! More ideal for overland routes between the mine and where the ore needs to go.

Comments

I'll show the break up in the next preview. I'm printing the last piece for the test print now and will do a short diagram. I'm not against your idea but I will have to let this one sink in first and get more feedback. The underside is open to the ground. 3d printing the ground is brutal on printing times. Already this plateau is rough without it. We're basically looking at 28 parts with print times between 6-12hrs. I would like to do one larger eventually.. Larger plateaus are really going to be out of reach for people who have only one or 2 fdm printers. I used like 20 printers to get this thing done in a day and a half. Thanks for the compliment and continuous support:)

Hard to answer since I don't know what the plateau looks like underneath but, my take on the matter was to have a future montly release that would add another layer to the plateau for the mine. I am quite sure that having the mine in the plateau would be do-able but would require that you change all the current plateau files which may or may not be a huge task (I really don't have an idea what that would involved). Would also like to say that you manage to wow me every month with your great sculpts.

Thanks for your support Enrique:)

Hi Michel, you mean under the lid of the plateau Or a second plateau layer? there will be an option mine entrance on the side. I intend to cut mountains so the bottoms can be optional rooms for the plateau.

That's cool. This is by far the best deal for terain. I feel that way month after month.

Enrique Avalos

that is quite fantastic. But what about the mine? Could we not have another layer underneath for the stalwart heroes to explore the haunted *my expression* mine of madness.

well I'm fairly certain it is probably going to leans towards "witch" that is actually hag/demon. I'm planning some snake stuff. The cat might be whats for dinner.

I think on the fireplace. It could be a petrified giant skull or something like that. I have some time, that will go in the basement in october. Mike had sketched up some type of giant skull for the crest of the building as well that I've still got to figure out..

And something to do with a cat. Gotta be a cat if there's a witch...Gimme a couple of days, I'll think up something.

I'm thinking the smoke coming out of the eyes and going up a flu overhead or something.

Totally down for some heads on stakes! And they don't all have to be human. Tiefling and Dragonborn might make for some nice decor! An alchemist set would be great for that wench system, something a "creator" would dream up for sure! Or a giant skull for a fireplace, with the lower jaw making up the hearth? Or too much? -BTW this is Christe's hubby, she's every bit as twisted as I am, just not as creative about it lol

Yeah I think it is free shipping out of microcenter as long as it is a certain amount, so that helps as well.

Thanks for the ideas Christe! I'll put them on down, shouldn't be too hard. Was going to do a cauldron but was going to go industrial witch with a wench system so she can have multiple mobile cauldrons. I've also had a blocked out alchemist set idea with one of those tiered brick ovens that is basically a giant Bunsen burner. Time to get that done I figure and add some shelves for the library stuff! I have a 28mm heroic skeleton thats been laying around doing nothing for a few years now. Flower beds would be a good metaphor for him. I guess some heads on stakes or rock piles with weird plant life. Yeah that could be some fun there:)

I may give that a go. I typically use Anycubic's PLA, and usually get it for about $20 bucks. But I'm buying a lot of filament as I have a lot of STLs to print, including some really big pieces.

Theala Sildorian

A bubbling cauldron on a tripod over a fire with printed flames lapping up the sides of the cauldron in 28mm heroic or so would be cool for the witch. Maybe a tile with a skeleton poking up out of the dirt for the "demon's flowerbed" around the house?

Yeah the Plateau is a beast, test printing now. I think there is some space for those, I personally just can't do Styrofoam anymore. Too spoiled:)

Thanks Theala! If you are in the states I recently switched back to inland pla since they are now using cardboard spools. like 17 bucks a spool. Its not the pre-pandemic $14 it used to be and the melt temp is higher than I like, but I do like their light brown a lot.

Gonna keep my printers humming till the conventions this fall, I can see that already. I think I'm most excited for the plateau and those mountain pieces. Also, I might have to put the scriptorium on top of this and merge the two sets. That'd be fun. Keep up the amazing designs!

GameNight

Wow, so cool! I need to stock up on filament.

Theala Sildorian

Thanks! I think most people are in the "I have more minis than I can ever print or paint" camp. But I will have some fun anyways:)

I'm excited to see a miniature from you! Was just thinking how I need to beef our my own miniature collection:)
