The Next Big Thing
Added 2022-07-14 19:07:20 +0000 UTCHi folks, I wanted to run a small poll for the next big thing! please vote for 1 only! I have finished the scriptorium and will have a preview up as soon as the last test prints get done. Should be a day or 2:) I expect I'm going to need at least September to tie up loose ends on scatter and add a couple more buildings in the line I've been doing. These choices all involve a massive move away from human lands!. As always thanks for your input:)
Clarifications! In both instances the orcs and the goblin forts will be more in the Harn, Elminster, old school vein. There will not be any of that tusk buildings shit.
In regard to Dark elves, they will be done in a stalinesque, egyptian style integrated with stalagmites. There will be no spiders or other cartoon BS.
If I do wood elf stuff it will be more in a wild elf style, probably not much nicer than a goblin forest fort.
The halfling/gnome fort would be on a tall plateau with atleast 2 subterainian levels. Happy Voting!
Comments
LOL, "houses" would be a generous term.
2022-07-19 11:40:38 +0000 UTCThanks for voting Theala!
2022-07-19 11:38:31 +0000 UTCorc are evil savages...they don't need houses!
2022-07-19 09:15:13 +0000 UTCWell, I'll be happy no matter what you do, but am rooting for the wood elves. :)

2022-07-18 00:33:11 +0000 UTChi Josh, thanks for the comment, yeah I might do a bit of everything over a longer time, it seems like the voting is split, same over at MMF tribes. I was thinking of nests though I wasn't thinking of them on the ground. Somewhat limited by what can be printed without turning into a mess. Yeah I'm not doing tolkien elves.
2022-07-17 21:19:35 +0000 UTCHappy to do orcs for now, but I hope we get to wood elves eventually, and that when we do, we don't go down the traditional tolkienesque route, but go with something a bit more unique. I haven't explored wood elves much in my setting yet, but I know they live in City-Hives and I've always imagined them to be like enormous bower bird nests built around important trees. That could be a fun angle.

2022-07-16 01:29:47 +0000 UTCThis is an image of there village - https://www.millenium.org/guide/377938.html - their structures are clay and mud with an open roof for the smoke of their fires to go out. They sleep on furs and are hunter gatherers - with regards to tusks i liked the comment on disney elephants :)

2022-07-15 13:54:24 +0000 UTCHi Kenneth thanks for the comment, I'm sure most of the world disagrees with me LOL. I'm not familiar with Mag'har. I know there are more understated examples like on skyrim which has a lot of awesome designs. My perspective is that doors, tents, and even symmetry would be a lot for orcs to deal with. I see structures made off of natural features and more recycled and looted parts or rougher stone. I don't know how orcs get a bunch giant tusks. I suppose it ultimately depends on the assumed smarts and impulse control of the orcs in whatever world we each play in:) and also if they next to a Disney elephant graveyard.
2022-07-15 12:28:41 +0000 UTCThanks for the comment Justin, yes I think the halfling thing would be fun, Like if goblins over ran it and you needed a party of all halflings to retake it or whatever. I'm sure I'll get over to it eventually. I suppose the height requirements and generally human-like features may make it easy to pass on. A lot of this other stuff could ultimately house many different races. For example the dark elf stuff could easily house Duergar or Illithids or even some odd regular dwarves.
2022-07-15 12:27:00 +0000 UTCgoing for the orc -> intrigued by this "There will not be any of that warhammer, video game orc shit. I like warhammer but do not like the orcs at all" ...I disagree partially on the "video game orc shit" since I love the concept of the Mag'har orcs in world of warcraft and their village in Nagrand

2022-07-15 07:03:36 +0000 UTCif you can widen the appeal for a set without to much hassle i would claim it as a win-win! I will add a suggestion (for later on, maybe....) if you do a caravaneri, it would be great to have some different tent-styles added in as well around a well and possibly one or two walled enclosures
2022-07-15 04:54:42 +0000 UTCWood elf setting would be nice. Seems like the perfect setting to release at the height of summer. Orcs setting seems like it'd be cool, but last October seemingly everyone I was a patron of at the time simultaneously decided to do orcs for a couple of months and so I'm still kind of sick of them. Disappointed plateau with subterranean levels (halfling/gnome) is so low. Would be delightful to see at some point.

2022-07-15 03:41:30 +0000 UTCFor sure it is more helpful than 5 things they like equally:)
2022-07-15 01:08:06 +0000 UTCI hope so, I feel like it is the thing I've most want to do since I started doing this:)
2022-07-15 01:06:59 +0000 UTCThanks for the input Rob!
2022-07-15 01:05:28 +0000 UTCWell, maybe I'll do a few. I know on a last poll some people wanted me to focus on themes but I'm finding it difficult.
2022-07-15 01:04:54 +0000 UTCWell, looks like you've got 3 things people like almost equally, and two which they don't... gives you a plan for the future. :)

2022-07-15 00:47:02 +0000 UTCVoted for halflings/gnomes myself
