Terrain Painting Competition!

It has officially been 2 years since the Patreon launched and we couldn’t be happier! I want to take a moment to thank everyone for choosing to support us in such a crowded field. I remember in 2017 when there was like 50 of us making terrain and miniatures, now there is MMF, and they have 1800 artists on there alone. No idea how many are active, but the point is that there are a lot of options these days.

We will be taking a break from big and the warehouse for December. I’ve promised some more features on that but I need to take a step back for a month. We’ve been running split releases on large prints the last 4 months. We gave it a go, but It isn’t going to be a viable release model, we will have to go all-in on big when we go big. We’ve probably had a hundred backers only pick up half a model as they come and go, I can’t make much sense of it, but it is probably not good. Overall it seems harder than it needs to be.

Very early WIP for next month.

We have More rotting furniture!

This continues to be fun but time costly modeling. I somewhat miss doing the simple primitive furniture, since I could knock out a moving truck load of it in a week. Most of these pieces will have 2 slightly different versions.

Abandoned Dark Elf Toll!

We started work on an abandoned dark elf toll station for the underdark road. For starters you will not see any spiders on anything. I will also not be making any claw towers. So much for popularity.

My intentions going forward are to aim for a bit of a stark Egyptian/Soviet feel but I would love to hear your thoughts on this . I do enjoy 2nd edition era look of mixing the architecture into stalagmites and some of The Shadows of Amn stuff.I enjoy some of the Aztec hints from the Mystara Shadow Elves as well.

Ballista Platform for Starter Fort

We will have a ballista platform that can plug into our starter fort wall. Ballista platforms have been missing for a while. The stairs can be attached or used separate. This is a platform that will plug into a straight area or work as a stand alone.

Goblin Ballista Nest

We’re also doing a little Swamp Goblin Ballista Nest. It is a neat little model with some 360 degree defensive features. Should make a nice little outpost, It does not have any specific swamp plants on it so it can go anywhere.

We’ll have some more out on the painting competition in a day or 2, probably pushing the dead line to the end of February. Time just moves fast around the holidays. Thanks for stopping in:)

Comments

I have a resin printer only (no FDM printer), so smaller pieces are great for that.

Adam Marafioti

Thanks for the input Steve. I think we will be on the smaller side for the next couple so hopefully there will be some stuff for for you:)

I love the scatter. I don’t have the time to print the big stuff even though it is cool.

Steve Moss

Yeah I've been feeling that pain as well, we'll keep the size down a couple months, I 'm guessing I'm not the only one who could use a chance to catch up on painting:)

Thanks B. I'm glad there is a place for an alternate view on dark elves:) My feelings on Drow are mixed anyways and there are plenty of non-spidery dark elves out there., even some of the Drow are non-spidery I think;)

Thanks Robb:)

Hi Eamonn, that is an interesting idea. do you have a specific idea or example of how that would work?

love these !! and i agree i would like to see more stuff like this in the future. big is good but running out of room is not .lol

Vapor Shots

This! ^^

Loving the designs and the effort going into these models, thank you. How about creating a loyalty vault for the bigger stuff?

Eamonn Ferguson

I like the architecture. I don’t have the D&D Drow stereotype elves in my campaigns, so thank you VERY much for not covering everything in spiderweb designs! These will be very useful for a number of things.

B. Griffith

Brutalism seems like an apt model for Dark Elf architecture—bravo!
