'The modern army must always keep a step ahead of itself in its planning. With an eye on tomorrow's military needs, the United States Army conducts a varied and comprehensive testing program on the materiel of battle to ensure that the American fighting man will remain the best equipped combat-ready soldier in the world. This issue of THE BIG PICTURE shows various Army testing procedures; from lenses for gun sights, to the vast transportation vehicles and vessels employed in the movement of troops and equipment. This film is an unusual "behind the scenes" report.'
