TNewhart is a show about white people who live in the snow, and while 70s-era Bob Newhart sitcom is the one pop culture remembers better, this is the longer-lived, more-Emmy-nominated of the two. What the 80s-era Bob New1hart sitcom has working in its favor are future Simpsons showrunner David Mirkin, who gives a host of wacky townspeople not unlike what you’d find in Springfield, and the duo of Julia Duffy and Peter Scolari, who male a perfect yuppie couple worthy of mockery. 2024-07-18 21:23:38 +0000 UTCNormally, my opinions and tastes align more with Glen, but in this case, I'm with Drew. Newhart has always had a special place in my heart. I love all the oddballs in the town, and the cozy feeling of it all. I also feel like Schitt's Creek has a similar premise with some out of towners owning a motel and dealing with the strange locals. Also, you've officially got me interested in checking out Jellystone! Also, side note, Leslie Jordan made a cameo on Newhart, and you can find quotes from him online about how much he disliked Mary Fran. I'm not sure how she was behind the scenes to make him feel that way, because on screen, she seems lovely.
