Season Seven: Update
Added 2023-09-12 20:27:16 +0000 UTCHi, all. So, perhaps surprising no one, my big idea for a season premiere focused on SNL have been slightly blown out of the water by the fact that this show has existed for 47 seasons and getting the material together is more work than I planned on. As a result, GEE will not be resuming until next week at the soonest. When that episode drops, it will be part one of a two-part episode all about queer-themed recurring bits on SNL.
The reason it's taking longer is that a lot of these clips are not in the truncated episodes NBC is streaming on Peacock, perhaps for obvious reasons? The clip I've posted here is one of example of many.
When this episode goes live, there will be a video component as well.
I'm also thinking that there may be multiple SNL-focused episodes this season. The two-parter will be an overview of the entire run of the show, and then throughout this season, there will be episodes focused on one-off queer-themed sketches from the different eras of the show — one from the original "not ready for prime time" era, one from the 80s/lost years, all the way up until current day. So there will be normal GEE episodes about sitcoms, and then there will also be weeks where we go deep on SNL.
I hope this all makes sense. As a result of this work, there won't be a new Backdoor Pilots this week. Hoping to get to that next week.

I'm sure someone has probably already pointed it out, but I wanted to be sure and make a suggestion for the one off sketch episode. S37E02 from October 2011-Lulu Diamonds with Melissa McCarthy , it's a great send up of the Mae West archetype and the coterie of gay men around her.

It’s great having even the musical guests. That early 80s era was when I first started watching and it has its issues but some of the writing is brilliant and unsung clever sketches aren’t available streaming.
