Backdoor Pilots: Who’s the Boss? Almost Spins off Mona

At the end of its third season, Who’s the Boss? almost made the mistake of sending Katherine Helmond’s Mona off onto her own show. It didn’t happen, thankfully, and when you watch the backdoor pilot for this spinoff that could have happened, it’s easy to see why. Not only was the staff of the Nottingham Hotel not up to Mona’s standards, but also losing one-fifth of the core cast might have seriously hurt the mothership show. A disastrous situation a la The Ropers was avoided.
