“Mandora: The Evil-Chaser” (September 20, 1985)
Just looking at the character designs for this show, it’s easy to see where things go really gay. However, Glen has chosen the tenth episode of Thundercats to do for this series because it introduces Mandora, an iconic 80s cartoon character who will read a few different ways, depending on who you are and how you think this character is commenting on gender roles. Whichever way you toss the boomerang, she’s got rad style.
Regarding the conversation about Die Hard, here are the additional details: Die Hard was initially supposed to be a sequel to Commando, the movie with Arnold Schwarzenegger and Alyssa Milano. However the plot originated as a book called Nothing Lasts Forever, which was a sequel to the book that got adapted as The Detective with Frank Sinatra. There is also a thematic connection between Die Hard 3 and the “evil blimp attacks the Super Bowl” movie Black Sunday, but Drew couldn’t find it before it was time for this episode to go up. Perhaps you know?
