Do you think Modern Tank (and other military vehicle) Designers will start using Transparent Aluminium (also known as Aluminium OxyNitride or ALON) for viewports, periscopes and other glass protected manual observation devices (some may call them windows or even door glass). Apparently it can stop a .50 BMG round with a thickness of 41mm, while regular bulletproof glass requires something like 90mm
